Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Enable or Disable Face Unlock Features

With the Samsung Galaxy SIII you can customize the lock screen by changing its background image and add application shortcuts that you want on the lock screen.

How to setup Face unlock feature?
Because this feature is not enabled by default, so to be able to use it you must first set it on. As written on bell.ca, below are the simple steps you need to do:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll down until you find Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Scroll down until you find Security, then tap on it.
  4. Tap on Screen lock.
  5. Select Face unlock.
  6. Tap on Set it up button.
  7. Tap on Continue button.
  8. Here you will be asked to put your face on the dotted circle to identify your face.
  9. Wait until your face has been recognize.
  10. Tap on the Continue button.
  11. Select a backup option, such as a PIN or Pattern. This option will be used if your face is not recognized by your phone.
  12. If you choose a PIN, then enter a PIN or if you choose Pattern then enter your Pattern, then tap on Continue button.
  13. Here you will be prompted to re-enter your PIN or Pattern to confirm, then tap on OK button.
  14. Tap on OK button.
  15. Finish. Now Face Unlock has been active on your phone.


How to disable Face unlock feature?
As taken from the same source, for any reason if you want to disable it, then here are the steps you need to do:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll down until you find Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Scroll down until you find Security, then tap on it.
  4. Tap on Screen lock.
  5. Here you will be asked to enter a PIN to change the unlock screen settings.
  6. Tap on Next button.
  7. Tap on None button.
  8. Finish. Now your Face unlock has been turned off.
