Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Pop Up View Gesture Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Pop-up view gesture is one of gesture-based features in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that will let you easily view an app in pop-up view so you can run multiple apps in the same screen at the same time. This feature provides you an easier way to do multiple tasks in your phone, as the example, you can chat with your friends in different apps about a nice movie you're watching while controlling your music playlist, because using this feature lets you easily switch between apps without you have to access the recent apps list to do so.


How to enable or disable the pop-up view gesture feature?
Before you can run an app in pop-up view, you have to enable the pop-up view gesture feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Advanced features and then tap it.
  3. Tap Pop-up view gesture.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap the ON/OFF switch to enable or disable the pop-up view gesture feature. When the switch turns blue , means this feature is enabled.


How to run multiple apps at once using pop-up view gesture feature?
When this feature is enabled, you can use it to run multiple apps at once by using the following steps:
  1. Open an app and then drag downwards diagonally from the top left/right corner of the screen to view the app in the pop-up view. Repeat this step to open more apps in pop-up view.
  2. To adjust the size of a pop-up window, tap the required pop-up window and then drag downwards or upwards diagonally the edge of the pop up window until you get the desired size.
  3. To move a pop-up window, tap the required pop-up window and then drag at the top of the pop-up window to the required location.
  4. To switch among pop-up windows, tap a pop-up window of the required app. The selected pop-up window will be displayed at the top.
  5. To access available options of a pop-up window, tap the required pop-up window and then tap at the top of the pop-up. The options are:
    • : tap this option to drag and drop text or image from one pop-up window to another. You can use this option when you need to easily copy text or image between pop-up windows.
    • : tap this option to minimize the selected pop-up window. When a pop-up window is minimized, it'll be displayed as a floated icon and always on top to let you easily access the minimized app whenever you want simply by tapping the floated icon. You can also press the Home key if you'd like to minimize all pop-up windows at once.
    • : tap this option to maximize the selected pop-up window.
    • : tap this option to close the selected pop-up window. You can also tap the Recents key(it's located in the left side of the Home key) and then tap Close all button if you'd like to close all pop-up windows at once.

One-handed operation is a feature in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that is designed for your convenience when using your phone with one hand. You can use this feature to reduce the size of the display to become smaller and change its position so you can easily control your phone with one hand. You can also use this feature to adjust the size and position of the input methods, e.g., keypad, in-call buttons, Samsung keyboard, calculator, unlock pattern, unlock PIN/password, etc., so you can easily input character(text, number, etc.) in your phone with one hand


How to enable or disable the one-handed operation feature?
You can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Advanced features and then tap it.
  3. Tap One-handed operation.
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Reduce screen size to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns blue , means this option is enabled and you can reduce the screen size for easy controlling your phone with one hand.
  5. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to One-handed input to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns blue , means this option is enabled and you can reduce the size of the input methods for easier input with one hand.


How to use the one-handed operation feature?
See the following steps as the example of using this feature:
  1. Reducing the screen size.
    You can use it whenever you need to easily control or use your phone with one hand. As the example, we'll do so when browsing a webpage in the Internet app with these steps:
    • Open the Internet app and then open a webpage.
    • Press the Home key three times quickly to reduce the screen size and its layout so it will be smaller than the default size. FYI, when this feature is enabled, the direct access feature will be turned off automatically.
    • Tap or to change the screen position. As the example, if you're a left handed user, you can place the adjusted screen in the left side of the screen.
    • Now, you can easily use your phone to browse the webpage with one hand.
    • Tap Return to full screen button to return the screen size back to the normal size.
  2. Adjusting the size of the input methods.
    You can use it on any screen or app where you need to easily input something in your phone with one hand. As the example, we'll do so when unlocking the screen with PIN number with these steps:
    • Swipe your finger on the lock screen to open the screen where you can input your PIN number.
    • Tap or to change the keypad position. As the example, if you're a left handed user, you can place the adjusted keypad in the left side of the screen.
    • Now, you can enter your PIN number with one hand and then tap OK button to unlock the screen.

If taking a screenshot with regular way is not enough for you, you can try doing so by using the smart capture feature. When this feature is enabled, your phone will provide additional options after taking a screenshot, lets you capture hidden areas of the screen so you can save the whole screen into a single image, crop the screenshot to remove unwanted or unused area, or immediately share it with others as soon as you take it.


How to enable or disable the smart capture feature?
You can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Advanced features and then tap it.
  3. Tap Smart capture.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap the ON/OFF switch to enable or disable the smart capture feature. When the switch turns blue , means this feature is enabled.


How to use the smart capture feature?
As the example, we'll use this feature to capture a long post in a webpage by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Internet app and then open a webpage.
  2. Capture the current screen, either by pressing the Power key and the Home key at the same time, or by swiping the edge of your hand across the screen, until you hear the shutter sound. After the screenshot is taken, the smart capture options will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  3. To capture hidden areas of the screen, use these steps:
    • Tap Capture more to automatically scroll down the screen and capture additional screenshot. Repeat this step until the whole screens are captured.
    • Your phone will stitch all screenshots into a single image.
  4. To immediately share the screenshot to others, use these steps:
    • Tap Share .
    • Select the required share method you want to use to share the image, e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi direct, etc.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
  5. To crop the screenshot so you can remove unused area of the screenshot, use these steps:
    • Tap Crop .
    • Drag the edge of the frame to adjust the area you want to crop and then tap Save in Gallery to save the changes.
