How to connect Galaxy S3 to TV?
As written on technipages.com, to be able to connect your phone with TV, you just need to follow the simple steps below:
- First of all you need to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S3 HDTV adapter. Why you need it? Because Samsung has changed the USB port's configuration on this phone. That's why the third-party MHL adapter will not work and you should purchase Samsung branded adapters.
- If you already have a Samsung adapter, you can plug this adapter into the USB port available on the Galaxy SIII. Then use a standard HDMI cable to connect your Samsung adapter with a TV set.
- Connect the power cable supplied by Samsung with your phone to Samsung's adapter and then plug it into a power outlet.
- Once all connected, your TV screen will now display the content is on your phone's screen and audio on your phone will also be routed to the TV.
- Done.
Well, by knowing on how to connect your phone to your TV, now you can enjoy the content on your phone on a bigger screen which is owned by the TV. And you can now enjoy watching video or movie that is on your phone through your TV. It's so cool, right? So, try this useful method then share your experience here through the comment below :)

Is there a way to connect a gs3 to a tv that doesn't have an hdmi connection?
ReplyDeleteHi Dan Baker,
DeleteThanks for coming here.
There is a feature on Galaxy S3 called AllShare Cast which will allow you mirroring your phone's screen to the TV, laptop or PC. If your TV is non-Samsung TV, or those with a lower end TV, then you can use AllShare
Cast Hub (AllShare Cast Dongle) available as an accessory from Samsung to connect your phone with the TV.
Or you can visit this link to read more about it:http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/239391-samsung-allshare-cast-hub-first-impressions.html

First, can you please tell me what the connection are you using to obtain the internet connection? Wi-Fi or mobile data?
My s3 connects to something when I hit a button in my music player and I want to know what it is, but cant find anything about it. The button looks like a tv with a #1 on it with back and forth arrows. Please help!
ReplyDeleteHi Marie Johnson,
DeleteThanks for coming.
This icon usually will appear if you tap the Menu key> scan for nearby devices option while on music player apps. If you tap the icon, then it will allow you to share files with network connected DLNA devices, such as your PS3, Xbox or Smart TV.
I used to be able to display photos, videos, and listen to music on my smart TV from my GS3... wireless. As of a couple days ago, that icon disappeared and I can't seem to figure it out. Was there an update that took this away? Did I accidentally change something? Would love to fix this.
ReplyDeleteHi MickeyW,
DeleteThanks for coming.
Did you mean is the "AllShare play" icon on your phone? Did you made any changes before you encountering this problem? However, try to check whether this apps is disabled or not by going to Settings> Application manager> choose All tab> scroll down to the bottom then check whether this apps is disabled. If so, tap the apps from there then tap enable button to enable the apps and bring it back into the apps menu.
Hope this helps :)
I just bought a Samsung UNF7100 Smart TV. Is it possible to use All Share or any other function to transmit sound from my TV to my Galaxy S3?
ReplyDeleteHi Projman65,
DeleteThanks for coming.
Unfortunately, till I write this reply I still can't figure out how to do this or the apps that will allow you to do so. AFAIK, from all articles and explanation on Samsung website, the user only be able to mirror from the Samsung phone or tablet to Samsung TV.
hi, is there any way to connect my Galaxy S3 to a older tv using a/v cables?
ReplyDeleteHi AppleJaxs,
DeleteThanks for coming.
FYI, I've never done this before, but I know there's a user at androidcentral forum who reported that he had managed to connect his Samsung Galaxy S3 to a TV using a RCA or AV cable. If you don't mind, you can read them by yourself for more detail information. Here's the link:http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-ii-epic-4g-touch/187039-connect-via-rca-cables.html#post2233606
Hope this helps :)
ok thanks...got everything I need to try it out...will let you know if it works
DeleteHi AppleJaxs,
DeleteThanks for confirm me.
I would gladly to know the result from you :)
hey I'm sorry for this being off topic, but you seem keen on the s3. would you happen to know why while listening to music from the normal music app I can't skip songs or anything if I press the sleep button, like I'll go to the music app & play the songs but once I press the screen sleep button and press it again I can't skip the songs unless I unlock the phone & go to the app again, it can be really annoying at times. please help
ReplyDeleteHi Indio Saldana,
DeleteThanks for coming.
If you use swipe method to unlock the screen, with the music player playing you can get music player control--skip, pause, play-- by sliding down the notification bar. If you use pattern or pin, you need to unlock the screen first to control the music player.
If you're using the Samsung Galaxy S3 headphone then you can jump to the next song using the small pause button beside volume control near the actual earphone. If you double click pause quickly it jumps to the next song.
Another way that you can do is by using third-party music app that has lockscreen control, such as PowerAmp, Doubletwist, etc.
FYI, later if you can't find the article related with your question, then kindly reach me through the Contact us page, I would be happy to answer your questions.
Hope this helps :)
thanks! it did help I downloaded an aftermarket app & it works fine, thanks again
ReplyDeleteHi Indio saldana,
DeleteThanks for getting back on me.

Hello chris here. I have the gs3 mini and a Baird tv. Is it possible to just watch movies from the phone on the tv through the USB only. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris,
DeleteThanks for coming.
CMIIW, you need a MHL adapter aside a USB cable to allow you to do so. But, you can also try to connect your TV with your S3 Mini just with a USB cable to see whether it works.

ReplyDeleteIs galaxy s3 mini compatible with a hml connection? I hav tried one adapter but just get a blank screen telling me no connection
ReplyDeleteHi Marian Kelly,
DeleteThanks for coming.
From what I've known, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini doesn't support MHL. You can try to connect your phone to TV by using DLNA. If you have more times, you can try to visit this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106609&page=6
Hope it helps :)
I have a usb port on my tv. Can I connect my s3 directly with the usb cable? Will it work? Ir should I get the samsung adapter?
ReplyDeleteHi BenQ gg BaraT,
DeleteThanks for coming.
I think it will work but the phone will only act as USB mass storage as when you connect the phone to the PC by using USB cable. If you want mirroring the phone to the TV, seems you should have the Samsung adapter.
Hello. I can connect my gs3 to my smart tv, and view photos and videos, but only the ones stored on the phone's internal memory. Anybody know how to view the photos stored on ur card? Is there just a switch i need to turn on?? thx :)
ReplyDeleteHi, to get what you're after you just need the tv and phone to be connected to the same router and with a lot of free video players like the stock one, can just stream straight to tv, youtube alsohives the same icon to send to tv. Look for little tv icon once you have started to play videos or view photos and you will get a choice of what device to send to.
