Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Fix No Notifications Tone when Receiving Incoming Message or Email

One of the insider (how I call the inside-galaxy's visitors) named Mr. Walsh was wrote an email to me and asked why his Samsung Galaxy SIII not play a tone when receiving an incoming message or email, eventhough he had set the message tone and email tone on his phone. Well, if you're also experiencing the same problem with him, then there are a few things that you should check on your phone to solve this problem. Here they are:
  1. Make sure your phone is not in the silent mode, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Ensure the Silent mode is turned off.
  2. Make sure you have ticked the Notification option under Messaging app settings.
  3. Make sure you have ticked the Email Notification option under your Email account settings.
  4. Make sure you have adjusted the volume so you can hear the tone of an incoming message or email, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Volume> adjust the Notifications volume bar to the right to increase of the volume.
  5. Check whether you have enabled blocking mode on your phone, check this by going to Settings> Blocking Mode> (if blocking mode is enabled) then make sure the Disable notifications option is not checked .

  6. If your Samsung Galaxy SIII running with the Android Jelly Bean, make sure you have checked Show Notifications in Messaging app and Email app. Do this thing by going to Settings> Application Manager> Go to the app (Messaging and email)> tick the box next to Show Notifications.

Well, these are six common things that may cause your phone doesn't play the tone when receiving an incoming message or email. However, if you own another tip and trick to solve this problem and it's not listed here, then you can share it through the comments below :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Unlock the Phone for Free in 2 Easy Ways

If your Samsung Galaxy SIII is locked and you want to unlock it for certain reason, said that you want to go abroad and want to put the local SIM card to get their services, then you can do this easily by using two methods available as listed below. Both of these methods is easy to do, no need to pay and no root required.


Method 1: Ask your carrier to unlock the phone
The first method that you can do to unlock your phone is by asking the unlock code from your provider. Here are the complete steps to do:
  1. Reach the provider through the calls or emails to ask them to unlock your phone. You can give them the explanation of what the reason that force you to unlock the phone, for instance you need to unlock the phone because you want to go to abroad, etc. FYI, some of carriers may refuse to unlock the phone until the contract is over, or you have to use their services for certain time period. If you managed to get the code then go to the next step, while if your carrier doesn't provide you the code then try to use the next methods.
  2. Turn the phone off, remove your old SIM card and insert with the new one.
  3. Turn on the phone.
  4. You'll see an 'Enter the unlock code' screen. Enter the unlock code here. Once you've finished, now you can use the phone with the service from the new provider.

Method 2: Unlock the phone from the Service Menu
If your carrier refuse to provide you the code, then you still be able to unlock the phone by following the easy steps as listed below:
  1. To make it works, make sure your Samsung Galaxy SIII is already with the Android 4.1 or above. You can check the software version through About device under the Settings menu.

  2. Open the Phone app, then enter *#197328640# to get the Service menu.
  3. In the ServiceMode menu, select the [1] UMTS.
  4. Open the Debug menu by selecting [1] DEBUG SCREEN, then select [8] PHONE CONTROL.
  5.  In Phone Control menu, select [6] NETWORK LOCK.
  6. Next, select [3] Perso SHA256 Off. Wait for about 30 seconds then tap the Menu key and select Back.
  7. Select [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ. Wait for about 1 minute then reboot your phone.
  8. Insert the new SIM card to the phone. If the code you've entered is correct, then you should not see the Enter the unlock code screen.
  9. Now you can enjoy your new SIM card and all services available in it.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Use Camera Best Face Mode

Upgrading your Samsung Galaxy SIII to the Android Jelly Bean will bring some features inside the phone, including with the Camera apps which also get some new shot mode.   1. Open the Camera apps.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Tap the Shooting mode, then select Best Face.
  4. Take a group photos.
  5. The camera will take 5 consecutive pictures and will let you to choose the best face for each person in the picture.
  6. Once you've finished, tap Save button to save the result.

This mode will give you better result for group photos because this mode will allow you to get best face for each person of those shots by swapping the desired face of those shots with that particular person's different individual expressions. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Use Easy Snap Feature

Talk back mode is one of the feature available on Samsung Galaxy SIII, either with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. Enabling this feature will make the phone provide the spoken feedback for whatever the user do. But, you should remember while in this mode, you need to use double tap instead a single tap to make selection and use two fingers instead one finger to swipe or to scroll.

Well, for those of you who now already use Android Jelly Bean inside the phone, then you can combine the talk back mode with the face detection in Camera apps to make easy snap. To make it works, make sure you have enabled talk back mode as you can see in the link above. Next, you just need to follow the steps listed below:
  1. Double tap the Apps icon on the Home screen.
  2. Double tap Camera.
  3. Double tap the Settings icon.
  4. Double tap Shooting mode, then double tap Face detection.
  5. Point the camera to the object. The camera will detect any human face and focuses on it, also the phone will tell you how many faces can be detected by the camera.
  6. Now you're ready to take a picture using the easy snap feature.

The easy snap will be able to help you to get better picture when you use it for portrait or group photos, because the camera will be able to focus in any human faces detected by the camera. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Block Notifications on Certain Applications in Android Jelly Bean

The easiness to download and install applications through the Google Play Store sometimes make you end up with installing lot of applications into your Samsung Galaxy SIII.     • Go to Settings> Applications manager> tap the required apps.
  2. Uncheck the box next to the "Show notifications" option to stop the apps sending you a notifications or ads.
  3. If you don't know the apps which displaying ads, then you may have to install another third-party apps named Addons detector to help you to monitor all of the notifications that appear in the notification bar and tell you which the apps displayed them.
  4. Another way, if you no longer use the apps that displaying the ads then you may have to consider to uninstall the apps. This will be able to not only stop the apps displaying the ads, but also will be able to free up some space on your phone's storage.

  1. Open the Camera apps.
  2. Tap settings icon, then turn on GPS tag and Contextual filename.
  3. Take the picture, then tap the photo result which will bring you to the Gallery apps.
  4. Tap the image and you'll see the yellow box appear there.
  5. Tap Add name to bring up the contacts, then tap to the desired contact. If you want to skip the step #3 and #4, simply disable face tag feature as you can see in the link above.
  6. Tap the Menu key then select Tag Buddy.
  7. Slide the slider to the right to enable tag buddy
  8. Select from the available options, they are: Weather, Location and Person. Tick the box next the option to add the information to the photo.
  9. Tap the Back key.
  10. The information will be displayed in the photo.

Take the picture is one of the way to keep a memorable moments. But, by adding contextual tag in the photo, of course will make the photo more memorable and will be able to help you to remember the moment more better. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Adjust Sound Balance

As we all know that the Samsung Galaxy SIII support with the stereo and mono audio. That's why you can use two earphones when in a stereo audio and use one earphone when in a mono audio. Below are the steps to use multi window feature:
  1. Hold the Back key or tap the half circle icon or slide out the multi window sidebar in the left side of the screen to open multi window drawer.
  2. Launch the apps you want by tapping and drag it from the app list to the main window.
  3. Open the next apps by tapping and drag the apps from the apps list to the main window. The screen will automatically split into two windows and each window will displaying the apps you have already dropped in. If you hold the phone in a portrait view, then the screen will split as top and bottom window, while in the landscape view the screen will split side by side.
  4. To open another apps, tap and drag the apps from the multi window drawer to the main window and the new apps will replace the apps displayed in the main window.
  5. Resize the window by tapping and drag the bar that separates the two windows.
  6. While you're tapping the separate bar, you will see two icons displayed, they are:
    • Flip(two squares) icon: tap this icon to change the apps position, so the top apps is on the bottom and vice versa.
    • Full screen(square icon): tap this icon to display the apps in the top window in full screen mode.
  7. Now, enjoy multi window on your phone.

For the record, not all apps support with this feature and its may vary depending on your carrier. When the apps is compatible with this feature, then it will show up in the multi window drawer. So, enjoy the multi window feature and feels the differences of using the advance of the multi task ability on your phone.

  3. Tap Multi window to enable this option. When the option is lit or shows green means the option is turned on.
  4. Done, multi window feature has been enabled.


How to disable multi window?
Some of visitors in Inside-Galaxy said that their phone becomes slow or the battery drained quickly when the multi window feature is activated, another said that they don't want a half circle icon of multi window feature is displayed on the left side of the phone. Well, if you had the same feeling or experience with them, then you can easily fix it by disabling this features using one of two methods as listed below:
I. From the Settings menu
As when you enable it, you can also disable it through the settings menu. Here are the steps:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Remove the tick on the box next to the Multi window option.
  4. The multi window feature has been disabled.

II. From notifications bar
Below are the steps to do to turn off multi window through the notifications bar:
  1. Pull down notification bar.
  2. Scroll to the right on the little set of toggles to see Multi Window option.
  3. Disable the Multi window option. When this option shows grey means the option is turned off.

As another features available on this phone, multi window also brings advantages and disadvantages. Enabling this features will make you be able to display two different apps in two different window on your phone in the same time, while in the other side this will also drain the battery more quickly, slow down the device and for some peoples the multi window icon on the left screen is annoying.   5. Tap the required Home screen mode you wish to use.
  6. Tap Apply button to save the changes.
  7. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

Another feature that you will find after upgrading is the option to increase the time of your Bluetooth visibility. If by default, Bluetooth visibility time is only within 2 minutes, then now with this option you can increase it up to 1 hour, even you can set it to always visible.

  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll to Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Slide the switch next to Bluetooth option to the right to turn it on.
  4. Tap Bluetooth.
  5. Tap the Menu key.
  6. On pop up menu select Visible time-out.
  7. Now you will see four options available. They are:
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 1 hour
    • Never time out.
  8. Tap the required visible time-out option. When the dot indicator next to the option shows green means the option is selected.
  9. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

You can find the option to change or disable transition animation under developer option. Unfortunately, on Android 4.2 this option is hidden in order to prevent the newbies screw up the device using this option. How to enable developer option?
Here are the steps to do to show the hidden developer option:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll to Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Under System section, tap About Device.

  5. Tap the Back key.
  6. Now you should see Developer option turn up here under System section.

How to add signature text?
Here the steps you need to do to create your own text signature:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Messaging.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. On pop up menu select Settings.
  5. Scroll to signature settings section then tap Add signature. When the checkbox next to this option is ticked means the option is turned on.
  6. Tap Signature text.
  7. Here you can type your signature text.
  8. Tap OK button to save the changes.
  9. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

Once you've enabled blocking mode on your Galaxy SIII, you will be able to customize options available in three section inside it. The first is features section that will allow you to choose which option you want to block, while the second section will allow you to set schedule for blocking mode.

The last section under this feature is Allowed contacts which will allow you to add contact who are permitted to call you while you on blocking mode. Here you can also see the list of your allowed contacts.


How to add contact to allowed contacts list on blocking mode?
Below are the steps you need to do to add contact that you allow to be able to call you even your blocking mode is on:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Blocking mode.
  4. Make sure you've enabled blocking mode. If the slider next to this option shows green or in the right side means this option is turned on.
  5. Under Allowed contacts section you will see two options available: Allowed contacts and Allowed contacts list.
  6. To add contact into allowed contact list, tap Allowed contacts then choose one of four options available on pop up menu, they are:
    • None: choose this option if you want no incoming call is allowed when your blocking mode is on.
    • All Contacts: choose this option if you want all your contacts allowed to call you on blocking mode.
    • Favourites: choose this option if you want all the contacts on your Favourites group allowed to call you on blocking mode.
    • Custom: choose this option if you want to add certain contact that you allow to be able to call you on blocking mode. Selecting this option will take you to the contact list to pick up the required contact.
  7. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

How to view allowed contacts list on blocking mode?
Follow the steps below to see your allowed contacts list:
  1. While you on Allowed contacts section, tap Allowed contacts list.
  2. Now you will see a list of your "white list" that you allow to be able to call you while you on blocking mode.
  3. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.
