Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Use Easy Snap Feature

Talk back mode is one of the feature available on Samsung Galaxy SIII, either with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. Enabling this feature will make the phone provide the spoken feedback for whatever the user do. But, you should remember while in this mode, you need to use double tap instead a single tap to make selection and use two fingers instead one finger to swipe or to scroll.

Well, for those of you who now already use Android Jelly Bean inside the phone, then you can combine the talk back mode with the face detection in Camera apps to make easy snap. Combining both of them will make the phone able to tell you how many faces detected by the camera while in preview screen and focuses on them.


How to use easy snap?
To make it works, make sure you have enabled talk back mode as you can see in the link above. Next, you just need to follow the steps listed below:
  1. Double tap the Apps icon on the Home screen.
  2. Double tap Camera.
  3. Double tap the Settings icon.
  4. Double tap Shooting mode, then double tap Face detection.
  5. Point the camera to the object. The camera will detect any human face and focuses on it, also the phone will tell you how many faces can be detected by the camera.
  6. Now you're ready to take a picture using the easy snap feature.

The easy snap will be able to help you to get better picture when you use it for portrait or group photos, because the camera will be able to focus in any human faces detected by the camera. So, hope this helps :)

There is an option inside Samsung Galaxy SIII that specifically designed for those with vision-impaired called Talk Back. Enabling this option will make your phone give a spoken feedback for whatever you do with the phone.

The voice announcement usually will auto-turned on when you enable talk back mode on your phone. This will make your phone to announce the incoming calls, incoming messages, etc.

  1. Double tap Apps on your Home screen.

  7. Finish. Now you have managed to disable voice announcements and also any talk back on your phone.

To unlock the phone with swipe while in the talk back mode, then you can unlock it by double tapping and swiping your finger on the lock screen.


How to unlock the phone with pattern?
To unlock the phone with pattern while in the talk back mode, then you can unlock it by drawing your pattern using your two fingers.


If you was bothered with this mode, then once your phone is unlocked, now you can deactivate it completely from your phone using two fingers swipe and double tap methods.

  3. Scroll down using two fingers to Accessibility, then double tap it.
  4. Double tap Talk Back.
  5. Slide the slider to the left using two fingers, then double tap OK button to disable talk back mode.

In certain conditions, the talk back is still operating even when you already turned off the option. The possible reason for it is that you have Google Text To Speech (Google TTS) and/or Samsung TTS and you need to disable them in order to completely disable talk back mode on your phone.


How to disable Google Text To Speech and Samsung TTS?
Here are the complete steps to do:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Tap Running tab.
  4. Tap All tab.
  5. From here, disable Google Text to Speech Engine and also disable Samsung TTS.
  6. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

By disabling talk back option under accessibility settings and disable Google TTS and/or Samsung TTS, now your phone will completely get out from the talk back mode and you will be able to use the phone as you used to be.

In this mode, you need to use two finger instead one finger to scroll the phone and use double tap instead single tap to select the menu, app or option. Using this mode also will disable some features on your phone, such as you will no longer be able to take a screen shot or open the notification.
