Once upon the time, one of this blog's visitor named Kelly was send me an email. She ask me how to bring back the "Complete action using" menu because she was accidentally made a wrong selection when her Samsung Galaxy SIII prompt her to choose between the stock Internet browser and Mozilla Firefox browser when opening a URL of website.

How to set apps as default for certain action?
For those of you who don't know how to set certain app as the default to perform specific action, here I show how to do so. According to the Kelly's problem, we'll try to set the stock Internet browser as default when the phone open the URL of a website:
  1. Open the URL of a website in any app, for example if you already receive a text message with a URL inside, then open the Messaging app and open the required text message contains with URL.
  2. Tap the URL.
  3. You should see "Complete action using" option menu appears (on Kelly's mail, she said that she has two option available, Internet Browser and Mozilla Firefox Browser). The option appears may vary depending on the apps installed on the phone.
  4. Tick the checkbox next to the "Use by default for this action" option.
  5. Tap the Internet Browser.
  6. The URL will be loaded in the Internet Browser app for now and so.

How to clear default on certain apps?
In certain case, you may ever made a wrong selection, as happen in Kelly's problem. Well, to fix this problem kindly follow the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Application manager, then tap it.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. In this case, tap the Internet Browser app.
  5. Tap Clear defaults button.
  6. Now you should see the "Complete action using" menu whenever opening the URL link.

Well, these two methods also can be applied in another applications. For instance if you want to get rid the annoying "Complete action using" menu or want to set the Gallery apps as the default when opening the image, then you can use the step to set certain apps as the default as mentioned above. While if you have made a wrong selection or want to bring back the same prompt to make a correct selection, then you can use the step to clear default as mentioned above. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Couldn't Sign In Error in Gmail Applications

Gmail app is one of the stock apps available inside Samsung Galaxy SIII that you can use to send or receive email messages. The username and password of the Gmail account also can be use to login and using another Google services, such as Google Play Store, Youtube, etc.

However, in certain condition you may have to open the same Gmail account on the web and change the password. Other times, you may noticed that your phone give you a notification of sign-in error when the Gmail account try to sync in the background resulting you can't login and using your Gmail account in Gmail app.


How to solve sign-in error on Gmail apps?
There are two ways available to fix the problem as listed below.
I. From the notification bar
After you've change the Gmail password on the web, when the Gmail app in the phone try to sync then you should see a exclamation sign in the notification bar. If so, do as follows:
  1. Pull down the notification bar.
  2. Tap the sign-in error message.
  3. Now you should see a Re-type password screen which will allow you to enter your new Gmail password.
  4. If the password you have entered is correct, then you should be able to login to your Gmail account.

II. From the Gmail app
If you encountering this error but don't see a sign-in error message in notification bar or you may have accidentally cleared them, then you can fix this problem through the Gmail app by following the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Apps through the Home screen.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. Tap Sync button.
  4. Now you should see Couldn't sign in error message appears with the SIGN-IN link.
  5. Tap the SIGN-IN link.
  6. Now you should see a screen which will allow you to enter your new Gmail password.
  7. If the password you've entered is correct, then you should be able to login and use your Gmail account in your phone.

Well, these are two possible ways that you can do to fix the sign-in error message on your Gmail apps due to password changes. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: Five Easy Ways to Install Applications

Samsung Galaxy SIII has come with some useful pre-loaded applications--you can said Messaging apps, Phone apps, Contacts apps, etc-- that you can use directly without having to install them first. This way of course will extend your convenient of searching and browsing the apps in the Play Store. All you need is login into the Google Play Store website using a Google account associated with your phone.

4. Sideloading Apps directly through the Phone
Aside from installing apps from the official market, you can also install apps from another sources, or users usually refer it as install .apk file. Apk is android packaging file or it's the same with .exe file in the Windows Operating System. This of course will useful if the apps you want to install is no longer available on the Play Store or Samsung Store, such as Adobe Flash Player. However, by default this option is disabled for security reasons. If you want to enable sideloading apps, you need to enable Unknown sources option that you can find under security settings. Once you've enabled this option, you can download a .apk file through your phone's browser apps then open it through the Download app to start installing. You can also download .apk file from your PC or laptop then copy the file to your phone and open it with the My Files app to start installing. This way also allow you to install from another third-party apps store, such as Amazon App Store, Humble Bundle Apps, and else.

5. Sideloading apps from PC
This way will allow you to install .apk file from the computer, with or without connecting your phone to the computer. AFAIK, the available option to do this way is by using ADB or use AirDroid app--tell me if you know the other ones--. If you use the ADB, you need to connect your phone to the computer by using USB cable and enable USB Debugging option on your phone. While if you use AirDroid app, you need to connect your phone and computer in the same network.

Before you do these steps below, make sure your phone and your PC or laptop is connected with the same network. Well, let see the complete steps:
Do these steps below on your phone
  1. Download install AirDroid app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Once the process is completed, launch the apps.
  3. Tap Start button.
  4. AirDroid app will provide you an IP Address that you can use to access your phone through the browser on your PC or laptop. You'll also provided with a password that you can use to login into the web and prevent unauthorized access to your phone.
Do these steps below on your PC or laptop
  1. Open Internet Browser.
  2. Enter the IP Address provided by the AirDroid app into the address bar.
  3. Enter the password provided by the AirDroid app into the login field, then click Login button.
  4. Now you'll see AirDroid's Home screen which contain links and statistic of your phone.
  5. Click Apps icon to view all installed apps in your phone.
  6. Tap Install App button to upload a .apk file to your phone and install it.
Do these steps below on your phone
  1. Confirm the installation by tapping the option on your phone.
  2. Once the process is completed, now you are ready to enjoy your newly installed apps on your phone.

By knowing how to use AirDroid app to sideload apps, now you can install the apps--and do another things by utilizing this apps capabilities--from the browser on your PC or laptop easily even without connecting your phone.   2. If the step #1 can't tell you what the apps causing the problem, then you can try to install another third-party apps to help you determine which the apps may have push ads included in it, such as Addons Detector apps.
  3. Once you've know the apps sending you the ads, then you may have to consider to uninstall the apps.
  4. For further prevention, don't reinstall the apps that you already know it has the ads included in it. Also you can leave a review to help other users knowing that the apps has the ads included in it.

Well, once you've changed the signature, now whenever you send the email message through the Gmail account on your phone, then the signature at the bottom of the message will display your own signature, no longer Send from Samsung Mobile. You can also decided not to use signature on your Gmail account by letting the signature field stay blank. For your note, this signature will only applies on your outgoing email messages sent through this phone.

Uninstall some unused apps is one thing that you can do to free up your phone's memory. Unfortunately, for certain apps you may be unable to uninstall them. In this case, disable apps is a methods that you should consider to do. This methods will causes the app hide from the menu list, not perform updates, can't run, can't use any resources and can't be called by other apps.

For the record, this methods is not the same with uninstall apps because the apps is still on the phone's memory so later you will be able to enable them again if you want to use them.


How to enable the disabled apps?
If you wants to enable the disabled apps, then kindly follow the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Applications manager.
  3. Tap All tab.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, usually the disabled apps will listed there and labelled as disabled.
  5. Tap the desired apps you want to enable.
  6. Tap Enable button.
  7. Finish. The apps has been enabled and the enable button will replaced with the disable button.

Once you've done these steps, now the apps will be shown in the menu list and you will be able to use it again. This apps also will be able to be called by another apps and use any resources. So, hope this helps :)

How to disable apps?
For your note, please do this steps only to disable user apps. Well, here are the steps to do:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Find the desired apps by swiping to the appropriate screen: Download, Running or All.
  4. Tap the desired application.
  5. If the apps was updated, first you have to uninstall the update in order to be able to disable it by tapping Uninstall updates button.
  6. Tap OK button to confirm uninstalling updates.
  7. Once the uninstall process is completed, the apps will reset back to its original condition and you'll be taken back to the Application manager.
  8. Tap OK button in confirmation windows.
  9. Tap again in the apps you wish to disable.
  10. Tap Disable button to disable apps.
  11. Tap OK button to confirm disabling apps.
  12. The apps has been disabled.

Once you've done the steps, you'll notice that the disable button was replaced with the enable button. Now the apps will no longer listed on the apps menu, not perform updates and any RAM used by this apps is now available. FYI, this steps only disable the apps not uninstall the apps so the apps is still on the device memory and you're able to enable this apps again later.   3. Tap the required album where the picture or video you wish to delete is saved.

  1. Open Gallery apps.

  3. On pop up menu tap Select album.
  4. Tap the required album you wish to delete.

  7. The selected album has been deleted.

  6. Click Factory data reset to delete all saved data in the phone. You should note that doing this will make you no longer be able using Samsung Dive to wipe the removable storage, and all deleted data cannot be recovered.
  7. Tick the box next to I agree to terms and conditions.
  8. Type the password in the password field then click Wipe button to start the process.

For the record, if you choose to wipe the storage then all the data saved inside them will be permanently deleted, while if you choose to factory data reset function then all the data on your phone will be permanently deleted and you'll no longer be able to use the Find My Mobile services with your phone.

1. Make sure another device you're pairing has the same Bluetooth protocols as your Samsung Galaxy SIII
For the record, as written in the manual guide of this phone that it's compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, AVRCP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, OPP, and PBAP. So, if the device you're pairing not compatible with any of these protocols, then it will make your phone unable to recognize them.

2. Make sure Bluetooth on both the devices is enabled
Check on both devices to make sure that the Bluetooth is enabled. If Bluetooth on one of the device is disabled, then it will caused your phone unable to pair.

3. Make sure both the devices is in range
For most devices, including with Samsung Galaxy, Bluetooth communication range is about 30 feet. So, make sure both of the devices is in range to be able to pair with each other. If one of the device is out of range, then it will caused your phone unable to connect.

4. Restart the phone
If you already have checked the step #1 up to the step #3 and they are all just fine but you still encountering Bluetooth connection problem, then try to restart your phone. Once your phone is on, try to pair to see whether the problem is still there or not.

5. Turn off the phone and removing the battery
If restarting the phone still unable to resolve the problem, then try to turn the phone off, remove the battery for about 30 seconds, reinsert the battery then turn on the phone and try to re-pair again with another Bluetooth-capable device to see if the problem is resolved.

6. Remove pairing and re-pair
If restarting the phone with or without pull down the battery still unable to fix the problem, then try to remove the pairing and restart your phone again. Once the phone is on, try to re-pair the device then see whether it solved the problem.

  3. Tap the application you wish to use.
