Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Block Notifications on Certain Applications in Android Jelly Bean

The easiness to download and install applications through the Google Play Store sometimes make you end up with installing lot of applications into your Samsung Galaxy SIII. Lot of installed apps that not managed well of course will give you some problems later, such as low internal storage, error when save or read saved files, etc. One of the solution that you can do to fix this problem is by uninstalling the apps.

Another problem you may have encountering when you install lot of apps is that some of them start sending you an advertisement in the notification bar, even when you're not using them. Well, if your Samsung Galaxy SIII already with the Android Jelly Bean inside and you feels annoying with the ads, then you can easily block the ads on certain apps to not appearing.


How to disable notifications of the apps?
Here are the steps you need to do:
  1. If you already know the apps which displaying ads, then go to the App info window by following one of the steps listed below:
    • On the Apps menu, tap and hold the required apps then drag it to the App info icon.
    • Go to Settings> Applications manager> tap the required apps.
  2. Uncheck the box next to the "Show notifications" option to stop the apps sending you a notifications or ads.
  3. If you don't know the apps which displaying ads, then you may have to install another third-party apps named Addons detector to help you to monitor all of the notifications that appear in the notification bar and tell you which the apps displayed them.
  4. Another way, if you no longer use the apps that displaying the ads then you may have to consider to uninstall the apps. This will be able to not only stop the apps displaying the ads, but also will be able to free up some space on your phone's storage.

By knowing how to disable notifications, now you can get rid the annoying ads appearing in the notifications bar. The other benefit of this step is it will save you more data because now you would no longer accidentally tap the ads and load the site referred from them. So, hope this helps :)

  1. hi i am using galaxy s3 with android 4.3 the problem is that most app notifications are blocked on the 3g, when i connect to WiFi all previous notifications are shown at the same time , although i am not restricting those applications from using 3g and when i am on 3g i can access those applications use them online . Any ideas?

      So, did you install any data-saver-related app(seems your problem is caused by an app that tried to save more data for you) in your phone? If so, try to uninstall it and then see whether it helps :)

      Thanks for coming and I'm so sorry for late answer.
      Did it happen on an app or some apps? If it just a single app(while you didn't block notification on this app) try to take a look at data usage menu by going to Settings> tap "Connections" tab> tap "Data usage"> scroll down and then tap the app (which the notification is blocked). Scroll down, if any, clear the box next to "Restrict background data". See whether it helps :)
