One of the nice things we can do with this phone is that we can customize the home screen with our desires, as we know this phone has a 7 homes screen, then even we can delete then add a new one on it, or we can arrange one by one existing homes screen in order really to our liking as written by site androidcentral.com. Interesting, isn't it?

Well, first we have to do to be able to customize the home screen on the Galaxy SIII is by first getting to the home screen edit screen. It's easy. You can start it by go to any home screen-> Touch and hold the screen -> Select the Add to home screen -> Touch the Page tab. Now, all of your home screen has been displayed and you can customize to your liking, including delete and add new ones.

How to delete home screen?
Yes, you can posiblly do this thing now. It's very easy to delete the home screen, simply by select one of the seven homes screens displayed then drag it to the trash icon. The screen will be deleted after you confirm delete on the next page.

How to Add new home screen?
Once you successfully deleted one, place of previous screen has been deleted will be a sign (+), it means that now you can add a new screen in this place by touch the sign (+). After that will come the home screen editing screen that you can use to add the app icons and widgets you want into your new screen.

How to rearrange the home screen?
In addition to deleting and adding a new screen, you can also rearrange the existing seven home screen in the order you want. By default, the phone will use the middle screen as the default home screen, while the screen on the left and the right is a screen you can swipe to the left or on right of the default screen. However, if you want to change the position of the left and right of the screen to your liking, then follow the steps below:
  1. Select the screen you want to change its position by touch and hold it.
  2. Determine the new position you want to this screen with drag it to the new place. You could put it next to the default screen or wherever you want.
  3. Exit from editing mode and swipe through home screen to confirm changes to the placement of the new screen.

How to change the default screen?
Perhaps in addition to rearrange the position of the left and right screen, you may also want to change the default screen to screen you wish to be. Usually the default screen has a Clock / Weather widget on the top. Well, if you want to change the default screen, it is very easy, simply by follow the steps below:
  1. Note any house icon on the upper right in seventh existing screen.
  2. Touch the house icon on the screen that you want to be the default screen.
  3. House icon on the screen that you choose will turn blue.
  4. A notification will appear to inform you that the default screen has changed.

With all of the things mentiond above, you can make your phone truly as you wish. So, do you have your own tips and tricks about home screen on Galaxy SIII? If so, I am very happy if you willing to share them via the comment below :)

    1. Hi Jamie,
I'm so happy to read your comment here.
Previously, did you mean the icon on the home screen dock? If so, until I wrote this reply I have not found a way to remove these 4 default icon, but you can change or replace them with another icon. You can following the steps below to replace them:
      1. Tap and hold the icon on the home screen dock then move it upwards.
      2. Drag the icon to your Home screen then release it.
      3. This icon will move to the Home screen and you will have an empty place in your dock that you can fill with any other icon you want.
      4. Find the icon or folder you want to put in the blank spot on the dock.
      5. Tap and hold the icon or folder then drag it down into the dock. Release it when you finish put it in the dock.
      6. Now your new icon will replace the default icon in your dock.
      7. You can do the same for another icon in your dock.

Or you can try to use another launcher which can be obtained through the Play Store, like Nova Launcher, ADW Launcher, Apex Launcher, etc.. Some users reported they could solve their problem with it.

Hope this answer will help :)

Thanks for coming and leave your comment here.
Previously, I would like to know what launcher are you using now? Stock launcher or else? Due to some launcher has this as a built in feature to prevents unexpected modifications, eg ADW Launcher or Next Launcher.
      Try this tips:
      > If you use ADW Launcher, tap the Settings button and see if there is unlock option, if yes toggle this option to lock or unlock.
      > If you use Next Launcher, tap Preferences-> Advanched setting-> Screen edit locked. Toggle this option to lock or unlock.
      > Or try to tap the Menu key then select More ... see if there is an icon that looks like a padlock, if yes toggle it to lock or unlock your Home screen.
      Hope it helps :)

    3. Hi Dalia,
      Thanks for coming.
As far as I know the stock weather widget can't be uninstalled, so it might have been disabled by you accidentally. To get it back you have to re-enable it by using the following steps (I assume that your phone is Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean):
      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Tap "More" tab.
      3. Tap "Application manager".
      4. Scroll right until you find "All" tab.
      5. Scroll to the very bottom until you find "Weather"(it should be labelled with "Disabled"), and then tap it.
      6. Tap "Enable" button. The weather widget should now be available in the widget panel and you can add it to your Home screen.

    1. Hi Abderrahim Zeriouh,
Your problem also experienced by many Galaxy S3 users out there, especially after they were update to the Jelly Bean. Here I outline some relevant solution for your problem:
      1. Try to go to Settings> Application Manager> All> TouchWiz Home> Clear Data.
      2. Try to go to Settings-> Developer option-> change Window animation scale and Transition animation scale to 5X or you can turn it off so that your phone can work faster without having to load any animation. If you can't find developer option on your phone, go to Setting>about device then scroll to the bottom and tap build number 7 times to get access to the developer options.
      Hope it helps :)

      1. Go to Settings-> Developer option-> change Window animation scale and Transition animation scale to 5X or you can turn it off, this will make your phone works faster because it will no need to load any animation.
      2. Go to Settings> Under Device tap Home screen mode> tap Easy mode> tap Apply.

      1. Go to any Home screen, then long press the screen.
      2. On pop up menu select Add to Home screen.
      3. On next pop up menu select Page.
      4. You should see all of your Home screens are displayed. now they can be edited, deleted or rearranged.

I turned my phone on this morning and I noticed the message app had gone from my icons in the bottom dock - it is however on one of my home screens so I dragged it down to the bottom dock again. Upon restarting the phone the icon had disappeared again - everytime I get the icon back in the right place it just disappears again after restarting. Ps I turn my phone off every night so this is going to happen every day now. I also rearranged all my apps yesterday but messages is still on the home screen so I don't see what the problem is.

I also don't know exactly why the icon always disappear whenever the phone is restarted. But, you may have to try to put the Messaging apps icon into the folder and drag the folder to the dock then see whether it still disappear or not when you restart the phone. Also try to add another icon to the dock then see, does it also disappear as same as the Message apps icon?

  19. I have a similar issue to Debbie. Since I had my S3 (about 8 months), From day 1, I had 5 icons in the dock: Phone, Email, Messaging and Camera (plus the Apps icon). I had no problems until this week.

Now even without turning the phone off, sometimes the Email icon disappears. I can put it back, and the next time I use my phone, it is gone again.

    I'm using the stock launcher.

Also I'm so sorry, I have no idea to help you to solve this problem. If you noticed that you make some changes before you encountered it, then it may be the causes. If you feel very annoyed with it, then the last effort you can do is by factory reset the phone, but make sure to backup first the data on your phone.

      Yes, you were right.
You're only allowed to have 7 home screens. I've tried another launcher, but they also didn't allow to have more than 7 home screens. But, I don't know if there's a custom ROM out there that will allow you do so.

Anyway, instead of adding more Home screen, why you don't just create some folders in Home screen and then place some apps with the similar functions into the folder. It'll allow you to place more apps in the existing Home screen without having to add a new one.
