Sending messages is one of the way to communicate with the others using the phone. As with the Samsung Galaxy SIII that you can use to send text or multimedia message, either using the stock Messaging application or another third-party Messaging apps that you can find through the Google Play Store.

While you use the phone to send a message, in certain condition you may faced some problems, such as whenever you send a text message, you get an error said that your message may be corrupted when received in the recipient device.

How to fix error message may be corrupted on the recipient device?
If you encountering this error while you're sending SMS, then kindly follow the steps below to fix it:
1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
2. Tap Messaging.
3. Try to send SMS, if you got an attention error said "Message may be corrupted on recipient device. Change input mode to automatic", then tap Cancel button to cancel the message sent. FYI, if you tap Send button, then the recipient may receive the message contains with ???? character.
3. Tap the Menu key then select Settings.
4. Scroll down to Text message (SMS) settings section.
5. Tap Input mode then select Automatic as input mode.
6. Tap the Back key to return to the Messaging apps, then try to send SMS again.

Have you tried the step above in your phone?
Did the problem is still persist even when you have selected the Automatic as the input mode in the Messaging app settings as mentioned in the step above?

You can do the same as mentioned in the steps above. While you're in the Messaging app, tap the Menu key then select "Settings". Scroll down to find "Input mode", tap it and then select "Automatic".

    1. Hi Joanna Asuncion,
      Thanks for coming.
      I'll try to help you.
FYI, you can find input mode option in the Messaging app's settings, not in the Settings menu(it's displayed with the cog wheel icon).
However, try to follow the steps below:
      1. Open Messaging app in your phone.
      2. Tap the Menu key(a physical button in the left side of the Home button) then on pop up menu select "Settings".
      3. Scroll down to find "Input mode", then tap it.
      4. On pop up menu select "Automatic".
      5. Now, try to send a message and then see whether it fixes the problem.
      Hope it helps :)

    3. OMG Thank you so much!! What an easy fix. I have had my phone for 2 years and have not been able to use fun emojis and I love to use them when I talk. Wish I would have found this sooner! To the people who say they can't find the settings menu. You have to be not in a specific text message like to your mom for example. You have to been on the screen where your whole list of text messages are then hit the menu button which is left of the home keep and you will find the setting button there.Just follow the instructions from there I could not find mine at first but I was in an actual message and that is why. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi Easton,
      Thanks for coming.
Did you encounter the "the message may be corrupted..." error? If so, the "Automatic" option can be found in the Messaging app settings, not in the Language & input in the Settings menu. If you don't mind, you can re-read the steps in this post.

      Thanks for coming.
Since I'm only concerned with the Samsung Galaxy phones, it makes me have no confidence to give you an answer for your question. But, if you don't mind can you please tell me the reason why you want to find the "input mode" in your phone?

  10. Hi Rehan,

I hope you can help me too! I have an s4 mini. I can't send a message typed in Cyrillic characters. Since I don't have a separate Settings menu for the Messaging app, I go to generic Settings ->My device -> Language and Input ->Keyboards and input mode. There I've unchecked the Google voice typing box under which it remains written Automatic and checked the Samsung keboard. Samsung keyboard is thus my default mode. However, this didn't help, and neither did shutting it down and turning it back on. What do I do?

    1. Hi Buddy,
      Thanks for coming.
Does Cyrillic characters equal with Russian alphabet? If that so, try installing a Russian keyboard app from the Play Store in your phone.
      Here's the example:
      1. Install a Russian keyboard app (I've tried the Russian keyboard app by GameWarrior).
      2. Once the installation is completed, go to the "Language and input" in the settings menu and then enable "Russian keyboard".
      3. Now, open Messaging app to compose a new text message.
      4. Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel, tap "Choose input method" and then select "Russian keyboard".
      5. Tap the Globe icon(it's located in the left side of the space bar) on the keyboard and your keyboard will use Russian alphabet.

FYI, the Google voice typing option is there to allow you use voice dictation feature thus enable/disable this option won't change the keyboard.

    1. Hi Loh Jie Sheng,
      Thanks for coming.
FYI, swiping the space bar to change the input language only works if you have selected multiple input languages in the Samsung keyboard settings.
Use the following steps to add multiple input languages:
      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Tap "My device" tab.
      3. Scroll down to the "Language and input", and then tap it.
      4. If needed, tap "Default" and then select "Samsung keyboard".
      5. Tap the settings(cog wheel) icon next to Samsung keyboard to view more detailed settings.
      6. Tap "Select input languages" and then select two or more languages as needed.
      7. Once done, go to the app or screen where you can enter text.
      8. Now, you should be able to switch between input languages by swiping the space bar to the right or to the left.

  22. Hello I've gone over many forums trying to fix this unfortunately I have the same problem. Cant send emojis, getting the error message telling me to change input mode to automatic although like others I've heard from having the same issue I don't have that option. Apparently there's supposed to be three options delivery report, manage sim messages, and input mode. I only have the manage sim messages option therefore I cannot change input mode to automatic. I haven't found a fix for this yet only the same answer telling people to go to settings and changing input mode which clearly I cant do is there a fox for this anyone can help with please? It just randomly started I used to be able to send anything fine until this morning and I cant find any answers.
