Another fun thing you can also do is by differentiate a ringtone for each contact you have. This will of course will facilitate you to know whose the caller before you pick up the phone.
How to set different ringtone for each contact?
If you want to do this, then kindly follow the steps listed below:
- Go to Apps through Home screen.
- Tap Contact.
- Tap on Contact tab.
- Here you will see your contact list. Find and select the required contact you wish to set its ringtone.
- Scroll to Ringtones, then tap the right arrow icon next to the option.
- Now you will see 3 options available on the pop up menu. They are:
- Default: Select this option if you want to use ringtone that has set in Setting->Sound->Device ringtone.
- Ringtone: Select this option if you want to use pre-loaded ringtones and ringtones on ringtones folders.
- Go to My Files: Select this option if you want to use any ringtone files on your internal or external storage.
- Find and select the required ringtone you wish to use.
- Tap OK button to save your changes.
- Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.
- Finish. Now you have managed to set ringtone for specific contact. You can also do these steps for another contact.
After you know how to set different ringtone for each contact , now you can set the required contact with the ringtone you want. So, try this and share your experience here through the comment below :)
Hi. I was wondering if there's any way to use a separate tone for different contacts when they TEXT me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi LMAOweekly,
DeleteThanks for coming.
Unfortunately, the steps I've mentioned above only works for incoming calls. If you wish to set different ringtone for incoming text message, then you need to use third-party Messaging apps, such as Handcent or Go SMS Pro or Ringo. All of them will allow you to assign different ringtone and notification tones for each contact.
Hope this helps :)
Hi
ReplyDeleteI have downloaded the app - Handcent and assigned different ringtone for TXT to different contacts. However, that work only for like 10 mins and now it is not working at all. Default ringtone sounds on every msg. What am i doing wrong?
Hi Lenxx,
DeleteThanks for coming.
I've tried to duplicate your issue.
The default message tone will ring on every new incoming message. Once you receive a message from certain contact, said from Rehan, then you can set spesific notification tone on Rehan's message. Later, whenever Rehan send you a message, then the message will ring the tone you've set before in Handcent app.
Hope this helps :)
Hello,
ReplyDeleteRecently when people call me, the dialing tone would normally happen but instead some weird music is playing while they are calling me :/ how could I change that to normal setting's? I have tried going onto each setting but there's nothing and I dont knoe hoe it happened.
Please Help Thanks!
Hi Carniz Fatema,
DeleteThanks for coming.
CMIIW, is the weird music playing during the call? If so, try to disable all options under the call alerts menu by using the following steps:
1. Open the Phone app.
2. Tap the Menu key and the select "Call settings".
3. Tap "Call alerts" and then disable all options under this menu.
There is no option for ringtones under my contacts. I would have done this already if there was that option.
ReplyDeleteHi Stargazer Lily,
DeleteThanks for coming.
Can you please tell me what your model number?
If you tap a contact name to see the contact detail, what options do you have?
Hi! I have the same problem as Stargazer Lily.
ReplyDeleteI have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and when I tap a contact it shows me only the name and phone number and the option of calling or video calling! Help please :))! Thank you!
Hi Maria 1981,

CMIIW, seems you have saved that contact in your SIM card. FYI, a SIM card contact only has a name and a phone number. Therefore, to get more options (ringtone, group, vibration, etc), try creating a new contact and save the contact in your device or Google account.
