  1. My new Samsung Galaxy S3 will not open text files that have a ".LOG" file name extension. It is simply not recognized by any application. I have to first download the file, then go to to another application to open it after finding it in the download directory. Other email applications (such as Touchdown, Gmail and Yahoo mail) all know how to automatically open a ".LOG" file. Why not the standard email app that comes with the S3?

    1. Hi Buddy,
      Thanks for coming here.
Unfortunately, the stock email app on Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn't support to open .log file so you should us another third-party app (as you've said) to open this files such as Officesuite or Notepad.
      Hope this helps :)

  2. I am trying to silence the e-mail notifications coming from Microsoft Exchange. i tried going through the e-mail app and put it to silent, with no success (notification still makes ringing sound. i also tried going through Sounds and put notifications to silent, but still no luck. Does anyone know if there is something i need to set at the same time to achieve my target?

    1. Hi Spr3Kos,
      Thanks for coming.
"i tried going through the e-mail app and put it to silent, with no success (notification still makes ringing sound)" make sure you're selecting your exchange account (firstname.lastname@company.something, not the general preferences) then put it to silent.
      Hope this helps :)

    2. I had the same problem as Spr3Kos and your answer was the solution. Thanks Rehan!

    3. Hi Leen Liefsoens,
      Thanks for coming.
Glad to know it works for you :)

  3. Can you change the tone for individual emails or does it change the tone for just emails. Like you can change the tone for different contacts.

    1. Hi RealtorTom,
      Thanks for coming.
This steps will only allow you to change email tone for each your email account, not for individual incoming email message. However, I find a app in Play Store called WhoIsIt app (available on free and paid version) which will allow you to configure certain contact and assign different tone for incoming calls, SMS, MMS, GTalk, Gmail.
      Hope this helps :)

  4. I did the steps suggested but I the ringtone selection is disabled even though Email notifications option is enabled.
    it's grey.

    1. Hi Alenesa,
      Thanks for coming.
Did you make any change before encountering this issue (e.g: change the settings, install any third-party app, etc)?
Theoretically, the "Select ringtone" option in the Email app settings should be enabled/ not grayed out when the "Email notifications" option is enabled.
