One more thing you can do to customize the keyboard is by turning on key tap vibration. Enabling this option will make your phone vibrate when the keyboard is touched.

How to turn on or off key tap vibration?
Here are the steps you need to do to enable or disable this option:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll to Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Make sure you've enable Samsung keyboard.
  5. Tap Settings (gear) icon next to Samsung keyboard option to enter to the settings page.
  6. Tap Advanced.
  7. Depending on your current setting, tap Key-tap vibration to turn on or turn off this option. When the checkbox next to this option is ticked means the option is turned on.
  8. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

This option indeed is not a really "useful" feature, but if you the one who wants to feel something different on your phone then you may need to turn on this option. While if you feel this option will be annoying you then turn off this option. So, did you've checked this option on your phone or not?

  1. hello!!
i try to put on the touch key light of my Samsung galaxy s3 but it does not respond ... so ask you to help if there is another way i can do

    1. Hi Bahati,
      Thanks for coming.
You can try to set the touch key light duration to "Always on" and then try to restart the phone to see whether it could solve the problem.
If you don't know how to adjust touch key light duration, feel free to visit our post about it here:
      Hope this helps :)

  2. there is no advance option on my phone.I only see choose input language. Block offensive language and offline speech recognition.

    1. Hi Katherine Torres,
      Thanks for coming.
Can you please tell me what carrier and Android version are you using now? However, if you're running the latest update Android 4.3, while you're in the Samsung keyboard settings, scroll to the bottom to find Sound vibration or Sound or something like that. Check the box next the option to enable sound and/or vibration each time you touch the keyboard.
      Hope this helps :)

  3. In my settings the option to have it vibrate for tap key notifications is gray and it wont let me select it.

    1. Hi Lané Reinach,
      Thanks for coming.
Can you please tell me, what keyboard are you using now? Do you use another launcher? Did you install any vibration-related app?
If you installed any vibration-related app, then try to uninstall that app. If you didn't, try to do the following steps:
      1. Go to Settings
      2. Tap "More" tab.
      3. Tap "Application manager".
      4. Under the Downloaded tab, tap the Menu key and then select "Reset app preferences".
      5. Once done, restart the phone and then try to enable the key tap vibration option.

    2. I am using the default samsung keyboard, I unsinstalled the app and cleared the app preferences. I belive the issue started happening when o updated to android 4.4.2

    3. Hi Lané Reinach,
      Thanks for getting back here.
FYI, I have Android 4.4.2 installed on my S4 and the key tap vibration option in my Samsung keyboard is available(not grayed out). I've tried to find what the culprit of your problem is, but found nothing. If you don't mind, you can try using other third-party keyboard app and then activate the vibration option on that keyboard app.
I'm so sorry if I can't help you much.

    4. I have the same problem, your solution is to stop using your software and to find other software that works correctly? That's a little absurd

    5. Hi Chris D'auria,
      Thanks for coming.
FYI, I'm only a Samsung phone user who want to share any knowledge about Samsung Galaxy phones and help other users (if I can) and I don't have any software as you said.
Well, back to the case, if you have the same problem (key tap vibration within the samsung keyboard settings is disabled), try enabling vibration using another key-tap vibration option by using the following steps:
      1. In home screen, tap the Menu key and then select "Settings".
      2. Tap "My device" tab.
      3. Tap "Sound".
      4. Scroll down to the Samsung keyboard section, and then enable "Key-tap vibration".
      5. Now, try using your keyboard.

As a note, there's a S3 user in XDA-developer forum, who has updated his phone to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, confirmed that he found key-tap vibration option within the keyboard settings was grayed but the key-tap vibration option within the sound settings was available. So, give it a try and then see whether it helps :)

  4. I have Verizon w latest update and there is no advance option. I have unchecked the keyboard sounds box in the keyboard settings but it didnt stop them. :/ it started suddenly w the new update.

    1. Hi MeowMars007,
      Thanks for coming.
Does your phone run with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean? If so, try to check the keyboard sounds box and then uncheck the box. In some cases, in Android 4.3 Jelly, we have to enable and then disable an option to disable it completely.
