I am running KitKat 4.x on my S3 as the update. On Jellybean there WAS an option to turn off the clock as you have detailed the procedure above BUT WHEN I UPDATED that option WENT AWAY. What to do? What to do? BTW, my carrier is AT&T & I am not rooted. After weeks of having to have that so & so stupid clock (I already have time on that little bar - whatever it's called at the very top of the screen) In desparation I FOUND THE PATH!!! And here it is of you are lacking a turn clock off option:
ReplyDeleteGo to Home Screen -> tap the menu icon in the lower left corner of the phone ->select System Settings from the pop up menu (Even if you are running a launcher from a 3d party, System Settings should be in the pop up menu) -> select My Device (2d tab on first settings screen) -> select Lock Screen -> select Lock Screen Widgets "Customize your clock and personal message" -> there are only two options on the screen you're seeing. select the Clock or Personal Message option -> you should see two radio buttons - one is Clock and one is Personal Message -> select Personal Message -> select Save -> this will take you back ONE menu screen (Lock Screen Widgets) -> select Edit personal message -> on this screen there will be a black area for text at top and the clock and time below the edit box on the left side of the screen. directly across from the clock & date will be 2 check boxes. the top box is the clock, the lower box is the date. IF you want a personal message you may edit it in the black text box. If you don't, DON'T type ANYTHING. Regarding the clock and date check boxes, uncheck both or just the Clock if you want the date to remain on the Lock Screen -> select Save then lock your screen and see what you see. -> If you are happy with the results unlock your screen and click the Home key (center of phone) and it gets you out of the Systems Settings Menu and back to your home screen,
I hope this helps some one!
Hi † Scott,
DeleteThanks for coming and share your thought here.
FYI, this post is written based on Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android ICS. When this phone updated to Android Jelly Bean the Settings menu appearance was changed. It's now displayed in tabular view.
To make it clear, I'll re-write how to enable clock in the lock screen in the Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android Jelly Bean or Kitkat:
1. In Home screen, tap the Menu key and the select "Settings".
2. Tap "My device" tab.
3. Tap "Lock screen".
4. Tap "Lock screen widgets".
5. Tap "Clock or Personal message".
6. If you select "Clock" and then tap "Save" button, the clock will be displayed automatically in the lock screen.
7. If you select "Personal message" you can enable clock by using the following steps:
- Select "Personal message".
- Tap "Save button".
- Tap "Edit personal message".
- Tick the checkbox in the left side of the clock option.
- Tap "Save" button.
- The clock will be displayed in the lock screen.
