Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Set and Use Volume Key to Change Font Size in Messaging App

As we have learned before that you can customize some settings in your Messaging apps in order to suit your needs. One of which is you can change the background image of your Messaging app using the available image or using your own image.

While you in setting page, you can set to use volume key to change text size when you compose a message.


How to enable or disable Volume key to change font size in Messaging app?
Here are the steps you need to do to enable or disable this option:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Messaging.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. On pop up menu select Settings.
  5. Depending on your current settings, tap Use the volume key to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is ticked means the option is enabled.
  6. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

How to use Volume key to change font size in Messaging app?
While you compose a new message on the enter text field on Messaging app you can press Volume Up key to increase text size or press Volume Down key to decrease text size.


It's easy to set up this option then use it when you create a new message. So, hope this helps :)

    2. What do I do if the "Use the volume key" option is grayed out and will not let me change it?

    3. Yes mine is greyed out as well. I have a s4 android 4.3.
      It use to work now it just adjusts volume :\
      I am using 3/4 emijo keyboard :)
