An insider has leave her comment here to ask about why she can't turn on ripple effect on her Samsung Galaxy Grand, though her phone had the option to do so. She said that the option is grayed out resulting she can't change the option, in this case she can't turn on the ripple effect as she wants. Well, due to this blog usually discusses about Samsung Galaxy SIII, then here I'll share about how to fix this problem in this phone. However, I believe that this steps also can be applied to another Samsung Galaxy devices, including with the Samsung Galaxy Grand.


How to fix grayed out the ripple effect option?
Basically, this problem is occurs when your phone use live wallpaper. Live wallpaper usually will deactivate the ripple effect, though you have activate it before. So, the possible way to fix this problem is by changing the wallpaper on your phone to the static one. You can either use the default static wallpaper from the Samsung or use your own picture as the wallpaper.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Wi-Fi Always Turn Off When the Phone is Sleep

An insider named Nicola has sent me an email and ask me why the Wi-Fi on his Samsung Galaxy SIII is always turn off whenever the phone is sleep. The Wi-Fi will on again whenever he wake up the phone and put in password. Well, if you're also experience the same problem or if you want to keep the Wi-Fi always on while the phone is sleep for any reason, then below are some things you need to do in your phone.


1. Set the phone to keep Wi-Fi on during sleep
The first thing you need to do is by setting the Wi-Fi to always on. If you don't know how to do so, you can see the steps in the link below.

2. Turn off Power Saver or Battery Saver app
If you already set the Wi-Fi to always on --as happen on Nicola's case-- but the Wi-Fi still off when the phone is sleep, then try to check whether you have installed any other app related with power saving or battery saver. Most of these apps will turn off the Wi-Fi or mobile data connection while the phone is sleep to save the power as much as possible. If you have any of them, then try to turn off them to let the Wi-Fi on when the phone is sleep.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Can't Delete an Additional Home Screen

An insider named Matthew has sent me an email to ask why his phone always crashing when he tried to delete additional home screen once he updated his phone to the Jelly Bean. As we all know that Samsung Galaxy SIII allows the user to add additional home screen up to seven home screen. Well, aside to make the Home screen more neat, deleting an unused home screen is one way that the user can do to manage RAM.

However, if you're also experience the same problem as Matthew has, then try to check some possible ways to fix this problem as listed below:

Method #1: Delete Home screen
Try to delete Home screen using a common methods as listed below:
  1. On Home screen, tap the Menu key then select Edit page, or pinch the Home screen to display all of your Home screen in a single page.
  2. Tap and hold the desired Home screen you wish to delete, then drag it to the trash can icon.

Method #2: Change the animation scale value
If the first method is not works. Try to change the animation scale value under the developer option menu. Here's the step:
  1. Go to Settings then select Developer option.
  2. Depending on your current settings, turn off all animation scale option if previously you have set it to certain value. While if previously you have turn them off, then try to set them to certain value, such as 1x or 5x. FYI, more higher the value more slower the phone.
  3. Restart the phone.
  4. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired Home screen by using the step as mentioned in the methods #1.
  5. Once you finish, you can change back the animation scale value.

Method #3: Disable developer option
The third step that you can do is by disabling the developer option menu by following the steps below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Developer option.
  3. Turn off the developer option by sliding the slider next to the developer option to the left.
  4. Restart the phone.
  5. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired home screen by using the steps as mentioned in the methods #1.
  6. Once you done, you can re-enable the developer option menu.

Method #4: Set Home screen as home page
A user in Androidcentral forum has reported that he finally be able to solve this problem by this step:
  1. Pinch the Home screen to display all of your Home screen in a single page.
  2. Tap the Home icon in the screen you wish to delete to set the screen as the home page, then tap and hold the screen then drag it to the trash. To delete more home screen, simply by repeating this steps.

Method #5: Clear TouchWiz Home data
The next possible step to do is by clearing the data of the TouchWiz Home. But, you should remember that this step will erase all of your Home screen settings. If you don't mind with this, then here's the step to do so:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. Find TouchWiz Home, then tap it.
  5. Tap Clear data button followed by tapping OK button to confirm.
  6. Restart the phone.
  7. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired Home screen by using the step as mentioned in the method #1

Method #6: Use another third-party launcher
The last step, if you don't mind, you can also try to use another third-party launcher available on Google Play Store, such as Nova launcher or ADW launcher. Lot of users said that both of them works well on their phone.


well, actually you can also perform factory reset to solve this problem, but I did not include this as one of the method to fix this problem because by doing factory reset you'll lost all of your data and settings. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Google Play Store Stop Working Issue

Google Play Store is the official market for all of Android phone, including Samsung Galaxy SIII. Here you can download lot of apps or game then install them to your phone. To make you be able accessing Google Play Store, make sure you have activated your Google account on your phone.

As same as another apps, some problem sometimes occur in the Google Play Store app, such as Play Store has stopped working resulting you can't access them to download its contents. If you're experiencing this problem, then there are some steps that you can do to fix this.


How to fix Google Play Store not working problem?
Assuming that you get the strong signal and you have no problem with the network, then you can try some possible steps to fix this problem:
I. Check whether the Download app is disabled
The first methods that you can do is by checking whether the Download app is disabled or not. Some user said that the Download app on their phone was turned off during the update. Once they enable it they can accessing the Play Store again. Here's the step:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. Scroll to the very bottom then check if the Download is labelled as disabled. If so, tap the the row and then tap Enable button to enable Download app.
  5. Now, try to open Google Play Store.

II. Clear Google Play Store's Cache
If the first methods is not works, then try to clear cache of the Google Play Store app by following the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. Find Google Play Store, then tap it.
  5. Tap Clear cache button.
  6. Tap Force stop button followed by tapping OK button to confirm.
  7. Now, try to open Google Play Store.

III. Clear Google Play Store's Cache and Data
If the first and the second methods are not works, try to clear cache and data of the Play Store by following the steps below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. Find Google Play Store, then tap it.
  5. Tap Clear cache button.
  6. Tap Clear data followed by tapping OK button to confirm.
  7. Tap Force stop button followed by tapping OK button to confirm
  8. Now, try to open Google Play Store.

IV. Reset App Preferences
The last methods that you can do if all the steps above are not works is by resetting the app preferences as listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the Downloaded screen.
  4. Tap the Menu key then select Reset app preferences.
  5. Restart the phone.
  6. Once the phone is up, open the Play Store. You'll be asked if you would like to use your Google account and then tap Agree to terms.

FYI, I didn't include factory reset as one of the method to solve this problem due to this process will erase all of the data on your phone. But, if you don't mind will all of the risk, then you can do that with your own risk. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Get Rid the Flashing Red Border Around the Screen

One of the insider asked me why her Samsung Galaxy SIII screen displaying a grid line that follow her move. After some further investigation, it turned out that she was accidentally activate the option named show pointer location under the developer option menu.

Yap, the developer menu option is actually intended for the developers purposes, so if you're a basic user then better you leave them in default to avoid you experience an unexpected situations. For example, some users said that their phone displays the flashing red border around the screen and thinks that it's a problem. Apparently, this is because they were accidentally activate the strict mode option under developer option menu. The strict mode is used to inform the developers when the apps perform long operations on main thread by displaying a flashing red frame around the screen. Given the cause, so the way to fix this issue is by disabling the strict mode option.


How to disable Strict Mode?
Below are the steps to do so:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down and find the Developer option, then tap it.
  3. Under the Monitoring section, uncheck the checkbox next to the Strict mode option to disable it.
  4. Now, restart your phone.

Messaging app is one of pre-installed apps on the Samsung Galaxy SIII which is presented to meet the user needs to send a message, either text or multimedia messages. Usually, when you get a new message you will get a notification in the status bar, and if you see the Messaging app icon in the Home screen, it will be marked with a certain number that indicates the number of unread messages. How to solve wrong display in Messaging app icon?
AFAIK, there are two possible ways to fix this problem. Here they are:
I. Disable the option Do not keep activities
The first methods is by checking the Do not keep activities option to see whether it's enabled. If so, you need to disable it by following the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Developer options, then tap it.
  3. Uncheck the checkbox next to the Do not keep activities option to disable this option.
  4. Now, restart the phone.
  5. Once the phone is waked up, the wrong displays on Messaging app icon should be fixed.

II. Remove the Messaging app icon then add it again
Yes, you can also fix this problem by removing the Messaging app icon and then add it again to your Home screen. Then the marked number in Messaging app icon should be removed.

Because the Samsung Galaxy SIII is not equipped with a physical keyboard, that's why Samsung has included a virtual keyboard inside it that will help your writing activities, such as when you compose a text message or email. By default, this phone use the QWERTY keyboard as you can see in your PC or laptop's keyboard. This keyboard allows you to enter letters, numbers, characters and symbols .

In addition to manually typing using the virtual keyboard, you can also use the voice dictation feature available on this phone that will allow your phone to translate your voice into text when composing a text messages or email. But, there are some users said that they have no mic icon on their keyboard and have no idea how to get it back. Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Fix No Notifications Tone when Receiving Incoming Message or Email

One of the insider (how I call the inside-galaxy's visitors) named Mr. Walsh was wrote an email to me and asked why his Samsung Galaxy SIII not play a tone when receiving an incoming message or email, eventhough he had set the message tone and email tone on his phone. Well, if you're also experiencing the same problem with him, then there are a few things that you should check on your phone to solve this problem. Here they are:
  1. Make sure your phone is not in the silent mode, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Ensure the Silent mode is turned off.
  2. Make sure you have ticked the Notification option under Messaging app settings.
  3. Make sure you have ticked the Email Notification option under your Email account settings.
  4. Make sure you have adjusted the volume so you can hear the tone of an incoming message or email, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Volume> adjust the Notifications volume bar to the right to increase of the volume.
  5. Check whether you have enabled blocking mode on your phone, check this by going to Settings> Blocking Mode> (if blocking mode is enabled) then make sure the Disable notifications option is not checked .

Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Fix the "None" Button Grayed Out When Turn Off the Screen Lock

If you still want to keep the application, then you might want to use the pattern methods for simplicity.
  3. Check whether there are settings in the phone that requires you to activate the screen lock. The one that I know is when you turn on the option to encrypt the SD card then the None button will be disabled and you're only allowed to use a pattern, PIN or password to unlock the screen. If this is the causes, disable the option to re-enable the None button. If not, you might want to use the pattern methods for simplicity.
  4. Check whether you have a VPN on your phone. If so , then you need to remove the VPN to re-enable the None button. But if you really need a VPN, then you might want to use the pattern methods for simplicity.

Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Solve Can't Control Music Player on Lock Screen

A visitor of the inside-galaxy asked me through her comment that she could not control the stock music player app --such as skip, pause/play, rewind, etc-- when the phone is locked unless she's unlocked her phone. Well , if you're also experiencing the same problem with her, then better you check a few things below to solve the problem:

1. Use Swipe method to unlock the screen
With the basic swipe methods to unlock the screen, whenever you're playing a music with the music player and the phone is locked, then you can control the music player with a music player control which can be found by sliding down the notification bar. Whereas, for the other unlock methods, such as a PIN, password or pattern, you need to unlock the screen first to be able to control the music player.

2. Use the native headphones of the Samsung Galaxy S3
If you use the headphones that come along with your phone, then you can utilize it to control the music player by using its physical buttons, such as you can jump to the next song by double clicking the small pause button beside the volume control.

Once upon the time, one of this blog's visitor named Kelly was send me an email. She ask me how to bring back the "Complete action using" menu because she was accidentally made a wrong selection when her Samsung Galaxy SIII prompt her to choose between the stock Internet browser and Mozilla Firefox browser when opening a URL of website.

How to set apps as default for certain action?
For those of you who don't know how to set certain app as the default to perform specific action, here I show how to do so. According to the Kelly's problem, we'll try to set the stock Internet browser as default when the phone open the URL of a website:
  1. Open the URL of a website in any app, for example if you already receive a text message with a URL inside, then open the Messaging app and open the required text message contains with URL.
  2. Tap the URL.
  3. You should see "Complete action using" option menu appears (on Kelly's mail, she said that she has two option available, Internet Browser and Mozilla Firefox Browser). The option appears may vary depending on the apps installed on the phone.
  4. Tick the checkbox next to the "Use by default for this action" option.
  5. Tap the Internet Browser.
  6. The URL will be loaded in the Internet Browser app for now and so.

How to clear default on certain apps?
In certain case, you may ever made a wrong selection, as happen in Kelly's problem. Well, to fix this problem kindly follow the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Application manager, then tap it.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. In this case, tap the Internet Browser app.
  5. Tap Clear defaults button.
  6. Now you should see the "Complete action using" menu whenever opening the URL link.

Well, these two methods also can be applied in another applications. For instance if you want to get rid the annoying "Complete action using" menu or want to set the Gallery apps as the default when opening the image, then you can use the step to set certain apps as the default as mentioned above. While if you have made a wrong selection or want to bring back the same prompt to make a correct selection, then you can use the step to clear default as mentioned above. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Couldn't Sign In Error in Gmail Applications

  1. Pull down the notification bar.
  2. Tap the sign-in error message.
  3. Now you should see a Re-type password screen which will allow you to enter your new Gmail password.
  4. If the password you have entered is correct, then you should be able to login to your Gmail account.

II. From the Gmail app
If you encountering this error but don't see a sign-in error message in notification bar or you may have accidentally cleared them, then you can fix this problem through the Gmail app by following the steps listed below:
  1. Go to Apps through the Home screen.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. Tap Sync button.
  4. Now you should see Couldn't sign in error message appears with the SIGN-IN link.
  5. Tap the SIGN-IN link.
  6. Now you should see a screen which will allow you to enter your new Gmail password.
  7. If the password you've entered is correct, then you should be able to login and use your Gmail account in your phone.

  2. If the step #1 can't tell you what the apps causing the problem, then you can try to install another third-party apps to help you determine which the apps may have push ads included in it, such as Addons Detector apps.
  3. Once you've know the apps sending you the ads, then you may have to consider to uninstall the apps.
  4. For further prevention, don't reinstall the apps that you already know it has the ads included in it. Also you can leave a review to help other users knowing that the apps has the ads included in it.

One way that you can do to save more battery life is by enabling power saving option. You can find four options available under this option, all of them are there to helps your phone save as much as possible the battery life.

  2. Scroll down to Application manager, then tap it.
  3. Tap All tab.
  4. Scroll down to BadgeProvider, then tap it.
  5. Tap Clear data button.
  6. Tap OK button to confirm clearing the data.
  7. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Solve Can't Download PDF Files from Browser

Previously, I would like to say thanks to Cheryl for giving me an idea to write about this. A few days ago, Cheryl write me an email which contains about her Galaxy S3 was unabled to download PDF files from the browser. After visiting on several websites to find relevant solutions, I finally found one that I think could solve her problem.

From the xda-developers forum, some Galaxy S3 users reported that they are having problems to download the PDF files from the browser. From all reply that i was read, below I have outlined in a few points:
  1. By default browser on the Galaxy S3 is set to download to SD card. So, this problem may be caused by corrupted SD card.
  2. Try to move a folder to your SD card, and if the results failed means that your SD card is in trouble.
  3. Move all the data on your SD card to a PC or any external storage you have, then format your SD Card. If you do not know how to format the SD card, please visit our url about how to format SD card here.
  4. Once you have finished formatting your SD card, you can restore your data to your SD card.
  5. Now try again to download the PDF file from the browser on your phone.
