Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Can't Delete an Additional Home Screen

An insider named Matthew has sent me an email to ask why his phone always crashing when he tried to delete additional home screen once he updated his phone to the Jelly Bean. As we all know that Samsung Galaxy SIII allows the user to add additional home screen up to seven home screen. Well, aside to make the Home screen more neat, deleting an unused home screen is one way that the user can do to manage RAM.

However, if you're also experience the same problem as Matthew has, then try to check some possible ways to fix this problem as listed below:

Method #1: Delete Home screen
Try to delete Home screen using a common methods as listed below:
  1. On Home screen, tap the Menu key then select Edit page, or pinch the Home screen to display all of your Home screen in a single page.
  2. Tap and hold the desired Home screen you wish to delete, then drag it to the trash can icon.

Method #2: Change the animation scale value
If the first method is not works. Try to change the animation scale value under the developer option menu. Here's the step:
  1. Go to Settings then select Developer option.
  2. Depending on your current settings, turn off all animation scale option if previously you have set it to certain value. While if previously you have turn them off, then try to set them to certain value, such as 1x or 5x. FYI, more higher the value more slower the phone.
  3. Restart the phone.
  4. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired Home screen by using the step as mentioned in the methods #1.
  5. Once you finish, you can change back the animation scale value.

Method #3: Disable developer option
The third step that you can do is by disabling the developer option menu by following the steps below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Developer option.
  3. Turn off the developer option by sliding the slider next to the developer option to the left.
  4. Restart the phone.
  5. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired home screen by using the steps as mentioned in the methods #1.
  6. Once you done, you can re-enable the developer option menu.

Method #4: Set Home screen as home page
A user in Androidcentral forum has reported that he finally be able to solve this problem by this step:
  1. Pinch the Home screen to display all of your Home screen in a single page.
  2. Tap the Home icon in the screen you wish to delete to set the screen as the home page, then tap and hold the screen then drag it to the trash. To delete more home screen, simply by repeating this steps.

Method #5: Clear TouchWiz Home data
The next possible step to do is by clearing the data of the TouchWiz Home. But, you should remember that this step will erase all of your Home screen settings. If you don't mind with this, then here's the step to do so:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Application manager.
  3. Swipe to the All screen.
  4. Find TouchWiz Home, then tap it.
  5. Tap Clear data button followed by tapping OK button to confirm.
  6. Restart the phone.
  7. Once the phone is up, try to delete the desired Home screen by using the step as mentioned in the method #1

Method #6: Use another third-party launcher
The last step, if you don't mind, you can also try to use another third-party launcher available on Google Play Store, such as Nova launcher or ADW launcher. Lot of users said that both of them works well on their phone.

well, actually you can also perform factory reset to solve this problem, but I did not include this as one of the method to fix this problem because by doing factory reset you'll lost all of your data and settings. However, if you own another step to solve this problem, then I'll really appreciate if you willing to share them through the comment below :)
