A visitor of the
inside-galaxy asked me through her comment that she could not control the stock music player app --such as skip, pause/play, rewind, etc-- when the phone is locked unless she's unlocked her phone. Well , if you're also experiencing the same problem with her, then better you check a few things below to solve the problem:
1. Use Swipe method to unlock the screen
With the basic swipe methods to unlock the screen, whenever you're playing a music with the music player and the phone is locked, then you can control the music player with a music player control which can be found by sliding down the notification bar. Whereas, for the other unlock methods, such as a PIN, password or pattern, you need to unlock the screen first to be able to control the music player.

2. Use the native headphones of the Samsung Galaxy S3
If you use the headphones that come along with your phone, then you can utilize it to control the music player by using its physical buttons, such as you can jump to the next song by double clicking the small pause button beside the volume control.
3. Use the third-party music player app with lockscreen controls
If you don't want to use the swipe method to unlock --for the security reasons maybe-- and or you don't want to use headphones, then the options that you can possibly do is by installing a third-party music player apps that have lock screen controls, such as Poweramp, doubleTwist, etc. You can get them all through the Play Store.
Well , that's three things you need to do on your phone if you want to be able to control the music player when your phone is locked. However, if you have your own way to fix this problem and it's not listed here, then I'll really appreciate if you willing to share them through the comment below :)
