Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Install ClockWorkMod Recovery

If you are a person who wants to do more with the Samsung Galaxy S3, then you may need to install ClockWorkMod or CWM recovery on your phone. Why do you need it? Yes, because by installing it you will be able to download and install new custom ROMs on your phone. You can also flashing new ROMs if you have installed it. As a note after you install it you have to root your phone so you can use CWM recovery in full.

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, with the CWM recovery you can also use it to backup your entire ROMs on your phone. However, the results of your backup may be very large, at least 1GB to backup entire ROMs on the Samsung Galaxy with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

When you flash the new firmware you also have to keep CWM Recovery. Since the stock recovery include into original firmware so if you use Odin this recovery will be overwritten, whereas if you use Mobile Odin then you have to open the firmware file first by selecting "Open File ..." option and select the Recovery entry and press the "Clear" button. This means that by using Mobile Odin, then it will prevent the recovery from overwritten.

And one more thing, to be able to install CWM recovery image on your phone, your phone has to be installed with USB driver. If not, that means you have to install it first and then you can install CWM Recovery.


How to Install CWM Recovery on Samsung Galaxy S3?
As written on android.gs.com, all you need to do is following the steps below:
  1. Connect your phone to your computer using the Samsung Galaxy S3 micro USB cable.
  2. Download the Odin3 v1.85 on your computer. This application will be used to flash the CWM Recovery.
  3. Download CWM Recovery file to your computer.
  4. Extract both .zip file. Odin will extract the files into its own folder, while unzipped CWM Recovery going to be .tar file And do not extract it.
  5. Disconnect your phone from your computer.
  6. launch Odin3 executable.
  7. In Odin click PDA button then select the 'CF-SGS3-CWM-vX.X-vY.Y.tar' file from your computer files.
  8. Turn off your phone.
  9. Boot your phone into download mode by holding Power button, Home button and volume down button simultaneously. After that download mode logo will appear and then you will be prompted to press any other button, so press it.
  10. Reconnect your phone to the computer.
  11. Go to Odin and make sure "repartition" option is unchecked.
  12. Click Start.
  13. Wait for the installation process is complete.
  14. Your phone will restart when the installation is complete.
  15. Done. You have successfully installed CWM Recovery on your phone.

Now you can use CWM Recovery to use a lot of features from there. And to get the full functionality you have to root your phone after you were installed it. To enter CWM Recovery hold Power button, Home button and Volume up button simultaneously or you can do this by launch it from your ROM Manager app or CWM icon. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Find Its IMEI Number

Previuosly I was wrote the article that is quite heavy in my opinion about how to root Samsung Galaxy SIII, this time I will write a short article about the IMEI.


What is IMEI?
For those of you who do not know about the IMEI, IMEI acronym for International Mobile Station Equipment Identity. IMEI is usually a series of numbers printed on the backside of your phone's battery.

So, why do we need to know our phone's IMEI? Yes, we need it because the IMEI number can be used to deactive the phone when it is lost or stolen. Of course this is a simple thing that you should know as a precaution when you experience unwanted situation on your Samsung Galaxy SIII.


How to get the IMEI number on the Samsung Galaxy S3?
You can follow the easy steps below to get to know your phone's IMEI, as written on ilaks.com:
  1. Tap Phone icon on your Home screen. Or you can go to Apps through Home screen then tap on Phone.
  2. Tap on Keypad tab.
  3. Enter *#06# then press the call icon.
  4. Your IMEI number will be displayed on your phone screen.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Root, Backup and Restore It

Until now, Samsung Galaxy S3 is still being a flagship smartphone from Samsung, though in the near future its newest generation named Samsung Galaxy SIV will be released. In spite of that Samsung Galaxy S3 is a great smartphone that allows us to do many things, even things that unthought before. Thanks to a bunch of its features and capabilities that allow all these things happen.

By default, this smartphone reportedly worked quite satisfactorily. But it'll be differnt case if you are someone who wants more performance out of this phone, then one way you can do is by rooting your device. Rooted phone will be able to push performance to be better and in some cases, roting can solve some of the problems that occur in this phone.

Even so, rooting also carries a risk for you, as with all things in life. When you root your phone, it may will void your phone's warranty. And if you have to return your device to factory, be sure to restore stock software first.


How to backup Samsung Galaxy S3?
Before you perform rooting on Samsung Galaxy SIII, then you will need to do a backup on your device. This will help when you do restore later. As written on gizmodo.co.uk, below the steps to backup you should do:
  1. Download Install Carbon Backup app via Google Play Store to your Samsung Galaxy SIII.
  2. Download Install the desktop cliend app here.
  3. Connect your phone to your computer to enable you use Carbon Backup app.
  4. Select all the apps and create a backup using Carbon Backup.
  5. You can backup your phone to the cloud, but you have to pay for Premium Carbon if you want to restore.
  6. Or you can choose to backup your phone to SD card, PC or any other external storage.
  7. Wait until the backup process is complete.
  8. Done. You have successfully backup your phone using Carbon Backup app.


How to root Samsung Galaxy S3?
After you do a backup on your phone. Now it's time to root your phone. From the same source, below are the steps you need to do:
  1. Download Galaxy S3 Root Toolkit here.
  2. Install Root Toolkit in your PC following to the instructions.
  3. Run this program, you will be required to check for an update.
  4. Select your models by go to Settings-> About Device-> Model number. Here you can also find what your Android version.
  5. Root Toolkit will download the necessary files. When you see a screen like the picture below, unplug your phone and then select number one and one again when you are asked to confirm.

  6. Driver will be installed. In this step all you need to do is click a few pages as in normal Windows installer.
  7. Plug your device when you get the message said "Connect your device via the usb cable ... etc" .
  8. Back to main menu. Select option 2 to root and option 3 for ALLINONE. Then option 1 to flash/CWRecovery and then option 2 for superuser.
  9. If you've got USB debugging enabled then type yes to start rooting.
  10. In this step you see something called "Odin". Follow the instructions given by Root Toolkit which will load recovery image. When you reboot your phone you can close Odin.
  11. Root Toolkit will do some other things as needed.
  12. Done. Now your phone has been successful rooted.


How to Flash CM and Rid the TouchWiz?
To do so, follow the steps below:
  1. Download ROM Manager through Google Play Store into your phone.
  2. Open it and grant for root access then Choose Recovery setup.
  3. Follow the instructions to flash ClockworkMod recovery.
  4. Download CyanogenMod version that you want here.
  5. Copy .zip into your device.
  6. Go to ROM Manager then select "Install ROM from SD Card".
  7.  Select CM 10.1 that you copied over your device.
  8. Check the option Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache.
  9. Press Reboot and install.
  10. CyanogenMod boot screen will Appear as a sign that you have successfully completed this stage.

How to restore a backup?
At this stage you are going to restore the data that you have previously backup. As gizmodo said, below are the steps you should do:
  1. Download Custom ROMs here.
  2. Enable USB debugging again by go to Settings-> About-> Built number. Then tap on it about ten times or until you receive a message that said "you're now a developer". After that back to Settings-> developer Mode-> Turn on USB debugging.
  3. When the download process #1 is complete, copy. Zip to your device.
  4. Turn off your device.
  5. Boot your device into the bootloader by hold down Power button, home button and volume up button simultaneously. Select "Recovery" then install .zip file from SD card.
  6. Navigate to the Google apps zip file you copied earlier and press go.
  7. Do a reboot after installation is complete.
  8. Download Carbon Backup through Google Play Store again after you past the initial setup, and then set it up again to do a restore from your backup.

Now your phone has been rooted and you can custom it as your wish by using the advantages that you get from the root. Yeah, to root your phone and restore it may requires more time and download some files. But all these things will pay off when you find your phone work better and you get more options to make your phone as better device as you wish. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Enable and Use S Voice

As is endless to talk about the features and capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Many things you can do easily with it. How to enable S Voice?
Before you can use this command on the Galaxy SIII, you must enable it first. Taken from cnet.com, here are the steps you should do:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Choose Security and lock screen.
  3. Tap on Lock screen option.
  4. Scroll down until you find "Set wake-up command". Then tap on it.
  5. Here you can set S Voice on seven options available.
  6. For example, we set up S Voice to unlock command. So, tap on Wake-up function 1 and select the function you want, for example to unlock.
  7. It will ask you to provide a word or phrase you'll use for voice command.
  8. You will be asked to repeat the voice command four times to make sure the phone is properly calibrate the words you say.
  9. Tap on Done button as a sign that the phone have received your voice command.
  10. You can also set up voice command for 6 other functions in the same way.
  11. Done. Now you have been able to use the S Voice on your phone.

How to use S Voice?
Just like everything else we do with this phone, we can also use S Voice with ease. Simply by tap on Power button and say one of the voice commands that you specify before. Then magically this words will command your phone to do the thing you want. That's it. Very easy, right? So, thanks to its operating system, which has allowed us to use S Voice on this phone very easily.
