Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Fix Freezes or Auto Reboot When Accessing Clipboard After Update to the Android 4.3

It's turned out that the update to the Android 4.3 brings some problems to the Samsung Galaxy SIII users, though actually some of them are not the real problem because they were triggered by the new option in this new operating system or that was because one app is linked with another one which is not turned on and resulting the app crashes whenever the user use it. As has been said by one of the insider through his email that the Gallery app in his phone always crashes whenever he use the Share menu

See also: How to Fix Gallery App Crashes When Using the Share Menu in Samsung Galaxy S3 With the Android 4.3

However, seems the users continuously reporting that they experience another problem once they updated their phone to the Android 4.3. One of which is they said that the phone always freezes or reboot whenever they tried to bring up the clipboard from the stock keyboard.

How to fix the phone freezes or rebooted when accessing clipboard?
If you're also experiencing the same problem after updating your phone to the Android 4.3, then you can follow the steps below that has been confirmed by one of the user in the androidcentral forum who has been managed to fix this problem:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap Application manager.
  4. Swipe to the All screen.
  5. Scroll down to find TestService, then tap it.
  6. Tap Force close button followed by tapping OK button.
  7. Restart the phone.

Once your phone is turned on, now try to access the clipboard from any app which requires you to use the keyboard, such as Messaging app, or else. If you're lucky, then you should be able to access the keyboard without having to make your phone freezes or reboot. And as it used to be, you can share your own steps to fix this problem through the comment below :)

  1. I'm having trouble with the clipboard rebooting my galaxy s3 and I've force stopped test services app and restarted phone and it is still rebooting phone when I try to go to the clipboard. Do you have any other suggestions for me to try.

    1. Hi Melissa Allshouse,
Thanks for coming and also so sorry for late answer.
Seems I've been missing the two last steps here--I'll update this article once I replied this comment--. Once you restart the phone, try to open any app which requires you to use the keyboard (eg. Messaging app or Email app) then try to bring up the Clipboard then tap the Clear button to delete them all.
If you're lucky, then the problem should be fixed with it.
      Hope this helps :)

    3. Hi Josh Wolarik,
      Thanks for coming.
Given to your information, try to go to the Application manager and then turn off unused apps to free up some memory. May this attempt will be able to help you to stop the phone not to reboot whenever you access the clipboard.
      Hope this helps :)

    1. Hi Rehan,
I have another problem: there is a function: when I am typing a message I can bring the phone towards my ear and a phone should automatically dial a number of the person, to whom I am writing a message. This function does not work after 4.3. v. has been installed.
      Please, help!

      Thanks for coming.
Did you mean a direct call feature?
If so, you'll be able to use this feature while you're opening the thread or replying the message in the thread in the Messaging app, but not when you're typing a new message.

    1. Hi Surrounded by Thugs,
      Thanks for coming.
CMIIW, force stop is only to stop an app that is freezing or locking up instead of having to reboot to fix the issue. Whenever the system accessing the files related with that app, then it will be running back.
Well, if the step above didn't work. Try to uninstall or disable unused apps in the phone to free up your RAM. Low RAM sometimes can led the phone freeze or lag.

    3. Hi Buddy,
I'm so sorry for my misunderstanding with your question. So, do you want to re-enable the force stop button in the TestService app? I personally have tried to force stop the TestService app in my phone and it didn't affect anything(in theory, the force stop button will be re-enabled if the system accessing any files related with the TestService app). My fault, I didn't notice which app triggers the TestService because I'm using lot of apps and did lot of activities on my phone, and now the force stop button in my phone is enabled again. But, I suspect that it is S-Voice app related.
Well, back to the problem. If the steps above didn't work (your phone still rebooting even when you've removed all the data in the clipboard), try to Clear data in the TestService app and followed by restarting the phone and see whether it helps.
Ohh, also try to uninstall or disable some unused apps to free up some memory. Low RAM sometimes causing the phone experience lag or freeze.

  8. I have recently updated my samsung galaxy s3 mobile phone. It started freezing itself two or three times. However, when I tried to send my friend a message via whatsapp tonight my phone just switched itself off completely and I can´t switch it back on now. The screen just comes and goes with the start up message 'samsung galaxy s3' and I cant do anything about it. I tried taking the battery out, removing the sim card etc but nothing works. The worst thing is I tried to charge it but my charger doesnt recognise the phone as it normally makes that little noise when its being charged. Is there anything I can do or do I need to take it to the shop or something??
    Thanks a lot

I've just found a useful link to help you fix your problem. Here's the link:http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/299756-samsung-galaxy-s3-frozen-start-screen-help-please.html
There are some clearly-explained steps that you can try (eg. clear cache via recovery mode, and else).
But, if you're new with Android and your phone is still under warranty, then send it back to the Samsung is another option that you could consider to do.
      Hope it helps :)

    1. Hi Pika,
      Thanks for coming.
I've tried to duplicate your issue but have no luck. If you still can't find a clipboard icon, after copied some text, long tap in the text field, you should see a pop up menu("Paste" and "Clipboard"), select clipboard to display the clipboard. Also, if you don't mind, try to take a look at Settings> tap "More" tab> tap "Application manager"> swipe the screen to the right until you see "Turned off" or "Disable" tab and then see if there's an app related with keyboard or else was disabled. If so, tap the app then tap "Enable" button.
      Hope it helps :)

What if you try to install another third-party keyboard app then try to access clipboard from there and then see does the phone keep restart? If it doesn't work, I have no idea except doing factory reset.

    1. Hi Ajith Khan,
      Thanks for coming.
FYI, I don't know much about Samsung Galaxy Grand, but I think most of Samsung Galaxy phones have similarities about things that can cause these phones freeze or lag.
Well, try to do the following steps to fix the problem:
      1. Clear cache and data of the apps periodically.
Go to the application manager in the settings menu and then investigate all of your apps to see whether there are some apps that have big cache and data and then clear them.
      2. Uninstall unused third-party apps.
      3. Disable unused stock apps.
Make sure only disable the user apps not the system apps. If your phone encounters any problem after disabling certain app, then re-enable that app to fix the problem.
      4. Check your free space.
Make sure you have free space enough to make your phone works well. You can either delete unused files or move your files to your PC.
      5. Disable Open S Voice via Home key
In most of Samsung Galaxy phones, by default you can access S Voice by double tapping the Home key. It sometimes causes the home key not responsive. You can try to disable this option by going to the "Language and input" in the settings menu and then tap "Voice search" and then clear the checkbox next to "Open via the home key" to disable this option.

Finally, let me know if one of them works :)

    1. Hi Buddy,
      Thanks for coming.
If your phone becomes slower and often freezes, try to do the following actions:
      1. Make sure you have free space enough on your phone to make it works well.
      2. Uninstall unused third-party apps.
      3. Use Home screen and widgets(especially those which is using animations) as needed.
      4. Clear the Phone app cache from the application manager.
      5. Make sure there's no Phone-related app that's disabled on your phone. If any, re-enable that app to avoid freeze when receiving calls.

However, did your phone also reboot during call while your phone was being charged?

    2. I have more than 8GB free space in phone memory. Yes phone get reboot during call.

    3. Hi Buddy,
I'm so sorry for so late answer.
      1. Try to make a call while your phone is charged.
      2. If you have installed any third-party related-phone app before encountering this issue, try to uninstall them.
      3. Try resetting app preferences by using the following steps:
      - Go to Settings.
      - Tap "More" tab.
      - Tap "Application manager".
      - Under the Downloaded tab, tap the Menu key and then select "Reset app preferences".
      - Once done, restart the phone.
      4. If you use non-OEM battery, remove it and use only the original battery that came with the unit.
