Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Import Contacts From SIM Card in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

For some reason, you will probably need to copy contacts within a SIM card to your phone, for instance when you have a new phone and need to copy contacts that you have saved in a SIM card or when you want to get more options for your contacts. As we all know, when you save your contacts in SIM card, you're only allowed to add a single phone number and a single name for a single contact, but if you save your contacts in the phone storage then you will get more options for your contacts, such as: you can add multiple phone numbers for a single contact, add other additional contact's information, add photo to contacts, etc.

How to import SIM Card contacts to the device storage?
Basically, you can copy your SIM card contacts to your phone storage or other accounts, e.g: Google account or Samsung account. But, as the example, we'll try to import SIM card contacts to the phone storage by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  4. Tap Contacts.
  5. Tap Import/export.
  6. Tap Import from SIM card. FYI, this option only available if you have inserted a SIM card to your phone.
  7. Tap Device to import SIM card contacts to your phone storage.
  8. Select the required SIM card contacts you want to import, or tap Select all to select all SIM card contacts.
  9. Tap Done button.
  10. All selected SIM card contacts will be copied to your phone storage.

As a note, since the steps above is written based on my SM-G900H, if you have a S5 with other model number and don't have the option to import SIM card contacts, then you can alternatively copy your SIM card contacts to your phone storage or other accounts by using a third-party app from the Play Store that has the ability to copy SIM card contacts.
