Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Enable or Disable Keyboard Vibration Feature in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

The default Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has some feedback features, one of which is the keyboard vibration feature. When this feature is enabled, your phone will vibrate when you tap a key on the Samsung keyboard.


How to enable or disable the keyboard vibration feature?
As the example, we'll turn on or off this feature by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from an app or screen where you can enter text.


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Device section and then tap Sounds and notifications.
  3. Tap Vibrations.
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Keyboard vibration to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns green , means the keyboard vibration feature is enabled and your phone will vibrate when you tap a key on the Samsung keyboard.


Method #2: From an app or screen where you can enter text
  1. When you're entering text, e.g., when composing a new text message, you can quickly go to the Samsung keyboard settings by long tapping the key in the left side of the space bar and then select .
  2. Scroll down to the Key-tap feedback section and then tap the ON/OFF switch next to Vibration to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns green , means the keyboard vibration feature is enabled and your phone will vibrate when you tap a key on the Samsung keyboard.

As a note, you can increase or decrease the intensity of the vibration when using the keyboard vibration feature by adjusting the vibration feedback option in the vibration intensity menu.

When needed, you can adjust the size of the Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. As the example, you can set this keyboard to a bigger size for better access if you have difficulty when typing with small keys, or you can set this keyboard to a smaller size if you want to get more space for the text area so you can review the text with more easily, etc.


How to adjust the size of the Samsung keyboard?
Assuming that the Samsung keyboard is set as the default, you can adjust its size by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the System section and then tap Language and input.
  3. In the Keyboard and input methods section, tap Samsung keyboard to view more detailed settings. Alternatively, when you're entering text, you can quickly go to the Samsung keyboard settings by long tapping the key in the left side of the space bar and then select .
  4. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then tap Adjust keyboard size.
  5. To adjust the size of the Samsung keyboard, tap and hold at the top of the keyboard and then drag it upwards for bigger size or downwards for smaller size.
  6. If you'd like to reset the Samsung keyboard size back to the default, tap Reset at the top right.

As a note, when you're using the Samsung keyboard, you can use the keyboard sound feature to have your phone plays a sound when the Samsung keyboard is tapped.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Use Google Voice Typing Feature in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

By default, Samsung Galaxy S5 lets you performing voice dictation by using the Google voice typing feature. By using this feature you can enter text by using your voice instead of typing using keyboard. But, you have to remember that this feature needs internet connection to work thus before using this feature make sure you have connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you use mobile data, the additional charges may be incurred.


How to use the Google voice typing feature to enter text?
Actually, you can use the Google voice typing feature in any app or screen where you can enter text. But, as the example, we'll try using this feature when composing a new text message in Messaging app. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Messaging app and then tap to create a new text message.
  2. If necessary, tap the Enter message field to view the keyboard.
  3. Long tap (FYI, other icons may appear instead of the icon depending on the last function that was used) until a pop up window appears and then select to start using the Google voice typing feature.
  4. When the Speak now screen with is displayed, speak your message clearly and distinctly into the microphone(It'd better if you break down your message into smaller segments). The text will be displayed in your message as you are speaking.
  5. Since this feature won't automatically insert punctuations, if you want to insert a punctuation then you have to manually speak the punctuation you want to use. For the example, if you'd like to type "Where are you?", then you'd need to speak the words "Where are you question mark".
    The following are some handy voice dictation commands that work in Samsung Galaxy S5:
    • comma= comma (,)
    • full stop= full stop (.)
    • question mark= question mark (?)
    • exclamation point= exclamation point (!)
    • enter or new line= break to a new line
    • new paragraph= new paragraph
  6. Since this feature doesn't have a voice dictation command to delete a word, you have to tap Delete button if you'd like to delete a wrong word.
  7. If the mic icon turns gray, it means that this feature is timed out and you have to tap again to start entering text using your voice.
  8. If necessary, you can change the default language of the Google voice typing by using the following steps:
    • Tap .
    • Tap Add more languages.
    • Clear the checkbox next to Automatic to allow you selecting other available languages.
    • Now, select the required language you want to use.
    • Press the Back key to return to the voice dictation screen.
  9. Tap quit from the Google voice typing screen and use the keyboard.

As a note, since the voice dictation commands in the Google voice typing feature are very limited therefore this feature is best used for conversational messages that don't need complex formatting or symbols, e.g.: email messages, text messages, quick notes, etc.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Access Clipboard in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Copy and paste text is a feature that can be used in Samsung Galaxy S5. This feature will help you duplicating or moving copied text with ease from one app to another. Since all copied text will be saved to the clipboard, it makes you can not only paste a text that you have just copied, but also paste an older copied text by selecting the required one from the clipboard as long as the clipboard has not been cleared yet.


How to access the clipboard?
Generally, there are two methods that can be used to access the clipboard: 1) in an app or screen where you can enter text by long tapping in a text entry field, 2) in an app or screen where you can see the keyboard by utilizing more options in the keyboard.


Method #1: From a text entry field
If you have ever copied text or taken a screenshot then you can easily access the clipboard from a text entry field in any app or screen. But, as the example, we'll access the clipboard from a text entry field when composing a new text message in Messaging app:
  1. Copy a text from any app or take a screenshot.
  2. Now, open Messaging app and then tap to create a new text message.
  3. Long tap in the Enter message field until a pop up window appears and then select Clipboard .
  4. All recently copied text/pictures will be displayed now and you can select the one that you want to paste to.
  5. The selected text or picture will be pasted in the Enter message field.


Method #2: From the keyboard
You can easily access the clipboard in any screen or app where you can use the keyboard. But, as the example, we'll access the clipboard from the keyboard when composing a new text message in Messaging app:
  1. Open Messaging app and then tap to create a new text message.
  2. If necessary, tap the Enter message field to view the keyboard.
  3. Long tap (FYI, other icons may appear instead of depending on the last function that was used) until a pop up window appears and then select to access the clipboard.
  4. All recently copied text/pictures will be displayed now and you can select the one that you want to paste to.
  5. The selected text or picture will be pasted in the Enter message field.

As a note, the copied pictures in clipboard are only available and can be pasted if you're in a text entry field where you can insert pictures, e.g: when composing text or email messages.
