Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Direct Call Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Some features in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge work by utilising the proximity sensor, one of which is the direct call feature. When this feature is enabled, you can easily call the contact whose call log, message or contact details are currently displayed on the screen by bringing your phone near to your ear.

How to enable or disable the direct call feature?
You can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Advanced features and then tap it.
  3. Tap Direct call.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap the ON/OFF switch to enable or disable the direct call feature. When the switch turns blue , means this feature is enabled.

How to use the direct call feature?
As the example, we'll use this feature when viewing a contact's log by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap Log tab.
  3. Tap a call log of a contact you want to call.
  4. Now, bring your phone close to your ear and it will automatically call the contact whose call log is selected by you.

  1. my galaxy s7 cannot show me the log on the contacts after the soft was updated recently so i cannot use the direct call feature. at least doesn't work.

  2. Samsung galaxy s7 edge. The direct call feature stopped working by me. No idea why (I'm pretty good at tech work)
