Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Enable Mono Audio Feature in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

If you have certain hearing difficulty so you can only hear with one of your ears, or feel more convenient when using one earphone, you can make hearing with single earphone better by switching audio output in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from stereo to mono by using mono audio feature. When this feature is enabled, your phone will combine stereo sound into one signal so you can hear the sound from two channels when you are using one earphone.

How to switch the sound output from stereo to mono?
As the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu(it can be done if you have enabled the direct access feature).

Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. In any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and then tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap Hearing.
  4. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Mono audio to the right to enable this option.
  5. When the switch turns green means the mono audio feature is enabled and your phone will switch audio from stereo to mono so you can hear the sound better when you're using one earphone.

Method #2: From the direct access menu
  1. In any screen, press the Home key three times quickly to open up the direct access menu.
  2. In the direct access menu, tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap Hearing.
  4. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Mono audio to the right to enable this option.
  5. When the switch turns green means the mono audio is enabled and your phone will switch audio from stereo to mono so you can hear the sound better when you're using one earphone.
