How to set Messaging app to allow you sending a text message to a premium number, short number or short code?
There are two methods available that can be used to change the Messaging app permission so that you'll be able to send text messages to premium numbers, short numbers or short codes: from the apps menu and from the app manager.
Method #1: From the applications menu
- In Home screen, tap Apps to go to the apps menu.
- Tap and hold Messages and then drag it to the App info icon located at the top of the screen.
- In the App info screen, scroll down the screen to the Permissions section.
- Tap the box below the "This app may charge you money: Send premium SMS" and then select Ask if you want to be asked each time you send a premium SMS or select Always allow if you want to directly send premium SMS without having to be asked first.
Method #2: From the application manager
- On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
- With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Applications section and then tap Application manager .
- Swipe the screen from the right to the left to access the ALL screen. All installed apps in your phone will be listed here.
- Scroll down the screen to find Messages, and then tap it.
- In the App info screen, scroll down the screen to the Permissions section.
- Tap the Box below the "This app may charge you money: Send premium SMS" and then select Ask if you want to be asked each time you send a premium SMS or select Always allow if you want to directly send premium SMS without having to be asked first.
As a note, I do believe that these steps can be used to fix the same problem in other Samsung Galaxy S phones since I can also use these steps in my Samsung Galaxy S4.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

DeleteI am unable to sent msgs for numbers which have +91(country code) in Samsung Galaxy s5
ReplyDeleteHi Madhav Atreya,
DeleteThanks for coming.
+91 is a country code for India, isn't it?
However, did you have any problem sending texts to other phone numbers with other country codes?
Also, did you receive any notification or error message when sending text to phone number with +91?
Unable to send or reply to text mesages for the numbers saved with +91. Im able to send if the numbers are saved without 91. How do i change this
DeleteThank you, first method worked like a charm. Another blog suggested as function of carrier; but when called Sprint, "all short codes unblocked" didn't help. Simple change to app settings you suggested worked.
ReplyDeleteHi DRUM BUM,
DeleteThanks for coming.
I'm happy to know that this post has helped you :)
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆I have had no help from Sprint customer service with this issue and I tried for awhile. It has been over a year since I accidentally hit the "NEVER" button also.
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about this issue until I needed to send a short code text today. I thought I would give the Internet a shot.
This blog has been the only thing that helped AND worked! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

ReplyDeleteHi Falak Raza,
DeleteThanks for coming.
First, may I know your phone's model number and Android version?
Did you get any error message or notification when sending message to that numbers?
Same problem on Galaxy S6 !! I don't have permission setings! What to do?
ReplyDeleteHi Беатрис Пупыркин,
DeleteThanks for coming.
FYI, I don't have a Galaxy S6, but I have Galaxy S6 Edge. But, I think they will be the same.
You have to send a premium SMS first using the stock Messaging app. You'll be asked to set the permission for the premium SMS. Once the permission is set, you can change it later from the app info via app manager.
I am unable to send text messages. i don't have option to allow or not allow.
ReplyDeletesamsung galaxy s5
I have the galaxy S6 and tried all of the recommendations from the internet I could find and nothing worked so I just went to playstore and downloaded Messenger by Google Inc and made that my default message app. It's a blue/white app. It has solved the problem. I can do text banking again. Be sure you are downloading MessengER by Google, Inc.
Deleteneed help for s3 5.1 pls
ReplyDeleteHave an unused sgs3 in drawer. Plugged in to try the solution above. Not from home page. From pages that show all apps (the square button on home page takes you there) Press and hold message app icon to display "more information" at top of page. Slide the icon to information option to bring up settings. Shows allow, never allow & always ask. Good luck.
DeleteHow do I do this on the s6
ReplyDeleteHi Buddy,
DeleteThanks for coming.
I write this step based on my Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925F):
1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap the settings icon (cog wheel icon) at the top right to go to the settings menu.
2. Scroll down to the Device section and then tap "Applications".
3. Tap "Application manager".
4. Swipe the screen to the rightmost to access the "All" tab where you can view all of your apps.
5. Scroll down the screen and then tap "Messages".
6. Scroll down to the Permissions section and then tap the drop down box below Send premium SMS and then select "Always allow".
I have the S6 too and i can do all of this except when I get to the permissions part, there isnt a send premiuk text part or a drop box.

Hello. My one is Samsung Note5. I just solved this issue. 2 way:
ReplyDelete1. Use Google messenger.
2. Got to application manager, in option, select show system applications. Then all applications will appear. Tap "Message Service", not "Message" only. Then tap Premium message and select always allow.
These 2 ways will solve surely.
