How to add a webpage to the quick access?
You can easily add a webpage to the quick access by using the following steps:
- Open Internet app.
- Tap the address bar and then enter the required address of a webpage and then tap Go.
- Once the webpage is fully loaded, tap
or long press the Recent apps key 
to open up the additional options and then select Add to Quick access. - If necessary, you can change the title of the webpage.
- Tap Save button.
- The webpage has been added to the quick access.
How to use the quick access feature in Internet app?
In case you have added some webpages to the quick access list and have set the quick access as your homepage, then you can use this feature to do some actions as described in the following steps:
- Open Internet app.
- The quick access list appears as your homepage and displays all webpages you have added to the quick access as a shortcut.
- Open a webpage from the quick access list:
- Tap the required quick access of a webpage you want to access.
- The webpage of the selected quick access will be loaded.
- Delete a webpage from the quick access list:
- Tap and hold the required quick access of a webpage you want to remove from the list and then drag it to the Delete icon
located at the top of the screen. - The selected quick access of a webpage will be removed from the list.
- Re-order webpages positions in the quick access list:
- Tap and hold the required quick access of a webpage and then drag it to the desired position.
- Release to place it.
- The selected quick access of a webpage will be placed in the new position.
Basically, quick access feature has some similarities with bookmarks since both these features will let you mark your favourite webpages so that you can easily re-load them anytime you want in condition that you're still connected to the internet.
This feature is really great for some, but really sucks for others! I understand not every operating system is perfect, but you would think by now the genuineness would figure out how many people prefer to access the web. I, like many others like to set a default home page that opens every time they access the browser however, this option is not available with s5 and that just piss poor R&D. The Idea of a quick access page, which is nothing more than a book marks page is completely and painfully redundant! There should be, at the very least, an option to eliminate, remove, or bypass the quick access page when you open the Galaxy s5 browser.

Well, I'll go straight to the point.
You can set a particular webpage as your homepage by using the following steps:
1. Open Internet app.
2. Long press the Recent apps key and then select "Settings".
3. Tap "Set homepage".
4. Tap "Others" and then enter the desired webpage you want to set as your homepage.
5. Tap "OK" button.
6. Tap "Done" button.
7. Now, you'll be asked whether you want to display the quick access or your preset homepage when open a new tab. Tap "OK" button if you want to display your preset homepage instead of the quick access when open a new tab.
Now, when you open up the Internet app or open a new tab while browsing, the app will automatically display the webpage you have set as homepage.
Rehab. I've done that a couple of times and every time I hit the Internet button it still goes to quick access first and I have to hit the home button before I can go to the page I wanted it to be set at
DeleteI found the same problem I found that opening a new tab took me to my preset home page. After opening a new tab go to tab manager and close the original tag showing quick access and this then solved the problem.

From what I know, there's no way to change the quick access icon in Internet app. The Internet app will automatically use the first letter of the webpage name that has been added to quick access as the icon.
Thats what i want to know. And why does it also stop displaying the icon picture after so many items. Theyve perfectly acheived non recognition of a given icon with the combination of these 2 shortcomings

So, did you want to say that you wanted to delete a webpage that had been added to the quick access?
If that so, do as follows:
1. Open Internet app. The quick access will be displayed here(assuming that you have set the quick access as the default homepage).
2. Tap and hold the required item within the quick access you want to remove and then drag it to the "Delete" icon at the top of the screen.
3. The selected item will be deleted from the quick access.
Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge--must delete something from Quick Access. How?? I've never even used Quick Access and last night it showed up upon opening Internet. Has some bad stuff. Can I delete individual items or even quick access itself??? Spent hours trying to delete!!

As a note, I write these steps based on Samsung Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925F runs with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
To delete an item within the quick access, do as follows:
1. Open Internet app. By default, the quick access is set as the default homepage.
2. Tap "More" at the top right and then select "Edit Quick access".
3. Tap the Remove icon(white circle with red minus sign) at the required item you want to remove from the quick access.
4. Tap "Done" button.
If you don't want to use the quick access, you can set another option as your default homepage. To do so, do as follows:
1. Open Internet app.
2. Tap "More" at the top right and then select "Settings".
3. Tap "Homepage".
4. Select "Current page" if you want to set the currently-opened page as the default homepage, or select "Most visited websites" to set your most visited websites list as the default homepage, or select "Other webpage" to set a specific webpage as your default homepage.
Hi. I somehow lost my quick access page on Galaxy s5. I can save to it but I can't find page. Can anyone help?

can you save/backup the Quick access links. after a reboot they do not comeback from the cloud. can i copy a directory or move to memory card, i have anlong list of quick access and dont want to lose them.

Hi all, I am at a complete loss. All of my 'Favourites' saved under Quick access have disappeared. I haven't touched it at all. Just spoke to Samsung Customer Service, and they advised that I have to save all of my links again. To me that sounds like a pointless exercise. I had so many links saved and can not possibly remember all of them..and it sort of defeats the whole point of having them saved in the first place. I have a Galaxy S5 and would welcome your expertise. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe whole quick access thing is utterly ridiculous, people... it is nothing but your bookmarks laid out in grid view. File managers, for example, will often have View Mode in their settings ad's you can choose List or Grid. Normal browsers INCLUDING PAST SAMSUNG ONES do the same thing but with bookmarks: again, List or Grid. Now all of a sudden the Grid view of your bookmarks is a separate, unique new feature called "quick access" and because of a name change everybody is talking about it and treating it like it's a brand new feature. Heck, even the author of this piece states in his article summary at the end:

... and you're waiting for the "but", as in "similar to bookmarks in THIS respect but different in THIS respect" only that second part isn't there. So the summary is telling you they're just similar to bookmarks, period. The author is 100% collect: they are renamed and glorified grid-view bookmarks.

Still want to know how to backup n restore.... aka save them so i can move them a flash drive or another phone. If not how do remove this feature, ifnit cant be saved and moved alone like bookmarks why have it when we do "UPGRADE" and it just gets in the way.

I don't know if there's a way to backup quick access to the SD card. But, if your new phone is still a Samsung phone and you use the same Samsung account, you can do the following steps to get your quick access from your Galaxy S5 to your new Samsung phone:
---In your Galaxy S5---
1. Add the required quick access to the bookmarks by dragging the quick access in the homepage to the Bookmarks icon.
2. Make sure to enable sync bookmarks option in your Samsung account. You can find this option in Internet app>settings>Manage accounts>Samsung account>Sync internet(Sync Bookmarks).
--- in your new Samsung phone--
1. Go to the Samsung account settings and then make sure the Sync Internet option is enabled. If needed, you can re-sync it.
2. Open the Internet app and then access Samsung account in your Bookmarks.
3. Here you can find your quick access that you have moved from your Galaxy S5 to your new Samsung phone.
