Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Reply a New Text Message in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

When you have an incoming text message, you can do some actions, one of which is by replying the message to the original sender. The step to reply a message is almost similar as when you read the message since when you want to reply a text message you usually need to read the latest message from particular contact and then send your message.

How to reply a new text message?
You can easily reply text messages by using 4 different methods. Each of the methods has their own advantage. You can use the one that best suit your need.

Method #1: From the Messaging app
It's the basic method that can be used to reply a text message. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open the Messaging app.
  2. Tap the required conversation. FYI, the latest message will be displayed at the very bottom of the conversation.
  3. Write your message in the enter message field.
  4. If necessary, you can insert emoji into your message by tapping and then select the required emoji.
  5. Once done, tap to send the message.

Method #2: From the notification panel
When you have enabled text message preview on status bar, you'll be notified with a short preview of the message as well as a Reply button in the notification panel which you can use to reply the message. See the following steps to do so:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. On the text preview of the new message, tap .
  3. Write your message in the enter message field.
  4. If necessary, you can insert emoji into your message by tapping and then select the required emoji.
  5. Once done, tap to send the message.

Method #3: From the lock screen
By default, when a text message is received, you'll be notified with a notification or text preview (if you have enabled text message preview) on the lock screen. You can reply a text message from the notification by using the following steps:
  1. Tap the notification of a new message on lock screen.
  2. Do your screen lock method (It all depends on your current lock screen settings. As the example, if you use PIN, you have to enter the PIN and then tap OK button) to open up the message in the Messaging app.
  3. Write your message in the enter message field.
  4. If necessary, you can insert emoji into your message by tapping and then select the required emoji.
  5. Once done, tap to send the message.

Method #4: From the pop-up display
When you have enabled message pop-up display, you can easily reply a text message directly from the pop-up when a new text message is received. See the following steps to do so:
  1. When a text message is received, it'll be displayed as pop up while the screen is not locked.
  2. Tap and you'll see the enter message field below the message preview.
  3. Write your message in the enter message field.
  4. If necessary, you can insert emoticon by long pressing the key in the left side of the space bar and then select Now, select the required emoticon you want to insert into you message.
  5. Once done, tap to send the message.

Since I enable pop-up display, I like replying a new text message from the pop-up because it lets me easily do so once the message is received no matter what I'm doing with the phone so that I won't miss to reply any important message.
