Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Change Video Size in Camera App in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

The Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge lets you change the size of videos recorded with the rear camera from VGA up to UHD and those recorded with the front camera from VGA to QHD. You can set the size to a higher resolution if you'd like to have a video with a higher quality, or to a lower resolution if your storage is low and you don't want those videos quickly drain your storage.


How to change the video size when using the rear camera in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap to view the detailed settings of the rear camera.
  3. Tap Video size (rear) and then select the required size you want to use. There 7 options available:
    • UHD (3840x2160) .
    • QHD (2560X1440)
    • FHD(60fps) (1920x1080)
    • FHD (1920x1080)
    • 1:1 (1440x1440)
    • HD (1280x720)
    • VGA (640x480)
  4. The video size of the rear camera has been changed.

Please note that some features may be unavailable in certain resolution, such as:
  • HDR(rich tone), video effects, and tracking AF features will be unavailable while recording in UHD,QHD,FHD(60fps) resolutions
  • Take pictures while recording feature will be unavailable while recording in FHD(60fps) resolution. 
  • Video stabilisation feature will be unavailable while recording in UHD,1:1,VGA resolution because these resolutions support optical image stabilisation only.


How to change the video size when using the front camera in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap to switch the camera from the rear to the front.
  3. Tap to view the detailed settings of the front camera.
  4. Tap Video size (front) and then select the required size you want to use. There are 5 options available:
    • QHD (2560X1440)
    • FHD (1920x1080)
    • 1:1 (1440x1440)
    • HD (1280x720)
    • VGA (640x480)
  5. The video size of the front camera has been changed.

Please note that some features may be unavailable in certain resolution, such as:
  • HDR(rich tone) and video effects features will be unavailable while recording in QHD resolution.
  • Video stabilisation will be unavailable while recording in QHD,1:1,VGA resolution because these resolutions support optical image stabilisation only.

  2. Tap the picture size icon next to the settings icon at the top of the screen and then select the required size you want to use. There are 6 options available:
    • 4:3(12M) 4032x3024
    • 4:3(6.2M) 2880x2160
    • 16:9(9.1M) 4032x2268
    • 16:9(3.7M) 2560X1440
    • 1:1(9.1M) 3024x3024
    • 1:1(4.7M) 2160x2160
  3. The picture size of the rear camera has been changed. As the example, if you set the size to 4:3(6.2M), the width of the image taken with the rear camera will be 2880 pixels and the height of the image will be 2160 pixels.


How to change picture size when using the front camera in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap to switch the camera from the rear to the front.
  3. Tap the picture size icon next to the settings icon at the top of the screen and then select the required size you want to use. There are 3 options available:
    • 4:3(5.0M) 2592x1944
    • 16:9(3.8M) 2592x1458
    • 1:1(3.7M) 1936x1936
  4. The picture size of the front camera has been changed. As the example, if you set the size to 4:3(5.0M), the width of the image taken with the front camera will be 2592 pixels and the height of the image will be 1944 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Fix Flipped or Mirrored Selfies in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Auto-flip selfie is a feature in the Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that can be used to set your phone to automatically save self-portrait photos taken with the front camera as you see in the preview screen or flip horizontally so that the right side in the original scene will be the left side in the photo or vice versa. However, if you don't like your selfies to be flipped automatically, you can fix it by disabling the auto-flip selfie feature so all your selfies will be saved as its original scene.


How to disable the auto-flip selfie feature in the Camera app?
You can turn off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap switch the camera from the rear to the front.
  3. Tap to view detailed settings for the front camera.
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Save pictures as previewed to enable or disable it. When the switch turns , means the auto-flip selfie feature is disabled and your phone won't save your self-portrait photos as flipped or mirrored images.
