When a new text message arrives, your phone will display the sender and a short preview of the received message in your lock screen. If needed, tap the message preview and then perform your unlock method(e.g., fingerprints, PIN, password, etc) to open the message in the stock Messaging app.


2. When the screen is not locked.
When a new text message arrives, your phone will display the sender and a short preview of the received message will be displayed on the status bar. If needed, you can do some further actions, e.g., calling the sender of the message or reply the message by using these steps:
  • Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  • Tap Call in the message preview to call the sender of the message.
  • Tap Reply in the message preview to open and reply the message in the stock Messaging app.

  2. Enter the required word by sliding your finger across the required letter keys on the keyboard. As the example, if you want to enter text "love", you have to slide your finger across the letter "l" to "o" to "v" to "e" continuously without lifting your finger. FYI, if the auto spacing feature is enabled, your phone will automatically insert a space when you type the next word or tap a punctuation mark.

Floating keyboard is a feature that you can use when typing with the Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. When this feature is enabled, the keyboard will float above the currently opened app and can be moved to other location so you can use the whole screen to view the text you have written.


How to use the floating keyboard feature?
You can use this feature by using the following steps:

  2. Long tap the key in the left side of the space bar(this key displays the icon of the last function that was used) and then tap to enable the floating keyboard feature. As a note, the floating keyboard icon won't be available if the magnification gestures feature is enabled.

    • Moving the keyboard position: drag above the keyboard to move the keyboard to the other location.

    • Switching to the standard keyboard: tap in the left side of the space bar to disable the floating keyboard feature and switch to the standard one.
