How to enable or disable mute/pause by turning the device over gesture?
You can do so by using the following steps:
- Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
- With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Motion section and then tap Motions and gestures .
- Tap Mute/Pause. If Mute/Pause is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
- Depending on your current settings, tap Turning device over to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means this gesture is enabled and you can mute/pause simply by turning the device over.
How to use mute/pause by turning the device over gesture?
Assuming that you have enabled turning device over gesture, now you can use this gesture to mute/pause as described in the following examples:
- Mute incoming calls
When an incoming call is received, turn the device over so that the screen will face downwards. It will mute the call so that the phone won't play the ringtone. - Mute alarms
When an alarm goes off, turn the device over so that the screen will face downwards. It will mute the alarm so that the phone won't play the alarm tone. - Pause the media playback
When you're playing a music in the stock Music player app or watching a video in the stock Video player app, turn the device over so that the screen will face downwards to pause the media playback.
As same as cover to mute/pause gesture, turn device over to mute/pause gesture also won't work when the screen is off, when you're using earphones and when it's used in the third-party apps.
