Pop-up view gesture is a feature in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that will let you open an app in pop-up view. You can use this feature to help you do some tasks in different apps with more easily by opening those apps in pop-up view. You can do so by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen to find Advanced features and then tap it.
   
   
3. Tap Pop-up view gesture.
   
   
4. Tap the ON/OFF switch to enable or disable this feature. When the switch turns blue , means the pop-up view gesture feature is enabled and you can view an app in pop-up view by swiping downwards diagonally from either corner at the top of the screen while the app is open and shown on the screen.

How to enable the keep screen turned off feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen to find Display and then tap it.
   
   
3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Keep screen turned off to the right to enable it. The switch turns blue when it's enabled.
   
   
4. Now, when your phone is in a dark place, e.g., pocket, bag, etc., and turned on accidentally, your phone will automatically turn off the screen to prevent unwanted access.

By default, the right shortcut on the lock screen in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge displays the Camera app and the left shortcut displays the Phone app. But, if your phone is now running with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, you can select which app shortcuts you want to display on the lock screen. You can set them to display shortcuts to your favourite apps so you can access them with more easily and quickly.


How to change app shortcuts on the lock screen?
You can do so by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen until you find Lock screen and security and then tap it.
   
   
3. Tap Info and app shortcuts.
   
   
4. Tap App shortcuts.
   
   
5. To set the app you want to display at the bottom left corner of the lock screen, tap Left shortcut and then select the required app. As the example, we'll select Messages app.
   
   
6. To set the app you want to display at the bottom right corner of the lock screen, tap Right shortcut and then select the required app. As the example, we'll select Music player app.
   
   
7. Press the Power key twice to go to the lock screen and see the changes. The shortcut of the Messages app is displayed at the bottom left corner of the lock screen and the shortcut of the Music player app is displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen.
   
   

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Enable Icon Backgrounds Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

By default, your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge displays icons only on the home screen and apps screen. But, if you have updated your phone to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, you can turn on the icon backgrounds feature to make those icons become more stand out by displaying them with shaded background.


How to enable the icon backgrounds feature?
You can turn this feature on by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen until you find Display and then tap it.
   
   
3. Tap Icon backgrounds.
   
   
4. Select Icons with backgrounds to have your phone displays icons with shaded background to make them stand out on the home screen and apps screen and then tap Done button to save the changes.
   
   
5. You can press the Home key to return to the home screen and see the changes.

When the sound profile is set to sound, your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will play a sound when you connect it to a charger. But, if you have updated your phone to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, you'll have an option that will let you set your phone to play that charging sounds or not.


How to enable or disable the charging sounds feature?
You can turn this feature on or off by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
   
   
2. Scroll down the screen to find Sounds and vibration and then tap it.
   
   
3. Scroll down the screen to the System section and then tap the ON/OFF switch next to Charging sounds to enable or disable it. When the switch turns green , means the charging sounds feature is enabled and your phone will play a sound when a charger is connected to your phone.
   
   

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: Changes and New Features in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

A couple days back, I finally updated my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Thus, I'm writing this post to resume about what's new in this Android version. Of course, if you have found other changes and features that are not listed in this list, you can share it through the comment section.

New looks

1. The background colour of the notification panel, buttons, and some of pre-installed apps are now dominated with gray and white.
2. Some old icons are replaced with new ones, e.g., Camera app icon and Phone app icon on the lock screen.
3. No S Finder and Quick connect buttons on the notification panel because it's moved and can only be accessed through the quick settings panel.
4. Wider view and more panels in the edge screen.

New features

1. Task edge: you can use this feature so you can easily and quickly access specific app functions or to communicate with favourite contacts, e.g., view bookmarks, create event/task, compose a new text message, etc., from the edge screen.
2. More additional panels that can be displayed in the edge screen, e.g., compass, weather widget, etc.
3. Move apps: you can use this feature to easily move app shortcuts on home screen.
4. Charging sound: when this option is enabled, your phone will play a sound when a charger is connected.
5. Notification settings: you can use this to change the notification setting for each app, e.g., allow notification, set as priority, preview in pop-ups, hide on lock screen, etc.
6. Icon backgrounds: you can use it to change the way your phone displays icons. You can set your phone to show icons only or with shaded background to make them stand out on the Home screen and Apps.
7. Keep screen turned off: when this option is enabled, your phone will prevent the screen from turning on accidentally while it's in the dark place, such as in a pocket or bag.
8. Pop-up view gesture: when this option is enabled, you can view an app in pop-up so you can easily use multiple apps at once.
9. Smart capture: when this option is enabled, you can capture hidden area of the screen, crop the screenshot, or share it.
10. Set up fingerprint security: you have to set a pattern, PIN, or password if you want to use fingerprints as the screen lock method.
11. App shortcuts: you can use it to select which app shortcuts you want to use on the lock screen. By default, it selects the Camera app as right shortcut and the Phone app as left shortcut.
12. Auto factory reset: when this option is enabled, your phone will automatically be reset to factory settings if you attempt to unlock your phone incorrectly 15 times.
13. App permissions: you can use it to control which apps have permission to access and modify information on your phone.
14. High contrast fonts: when this option is enabled, your phone will adjust the colour and outline of fonts to increase the contrast with the background.
15. High contrast keyboard: when this option is enabled, your phone will adjust the size of the Samsung keyboard and change its colours to increase the contrast between the keys and the background.
16. Show button shapes: when this option is enabled, your phone will show buttons with shaded backgrounds to make them stand out.
17. Number keys: when this option is enabled, your phone will display the number keys on the Samsung keyboard.
18. Fast cable charging: when this option is enabled, you can use the fast charging feature so you can charge the battery with more quickly.
19. Save as RAW file: when this option is enabled, your phone will save photos taken with Pro mode in the Camera app without compression.
20. Animate: you can use this feature to create animate of photos in the Gallery app.
21. Collage: you can use this feature to create collage of photos in the Gallery app.
22. Auto adjust: you can use this option to adjust the brightness of a photo in the Gallery app.
23. Compress: you can use this feature to compress a file/folder or more to .zip file in the My Files app.
24. Voice recorder app now has three modes: standard, interview, and memo.

Removed features

1. Premium SMS permission: since this option is no longer available in the App manager menu, once you set the permission and tell your phone to remember your choice, it cannot be changed anymore.
2. Bubble shape in the Messages app: since this option is not available, now you cannot change the bubble shape in the Messages app.
3. Answer or reject with voice: since this option is not available, now you cannot answer or reject call with voice command "answer" or "reject".

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to See Hidden Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Easter Egg Animation

If you have updated your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, you can reveal the hidden Easter egg animation of this Android version. In this version, a flappy Android guy game still be the animation game. The differences are the pipe is now using the Marshmallow icon and you can adjust Android guy number.


How to see hidden Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Easter egg animation?
You can do so by using the following steps:

1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
2. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then tap About device.
   
   
3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then tap Software info.
   
   
4. Tap Android version rapidly for 5 times or so. A coloured circle with the letter M inside will be displayed at the middle of the screen.
   
   
5. Tap the circle to view the marshmallow icon.
   
   
6. Single tap the circle to change the color, or long tap the circle to go to the screen where you can begin the animation game.
   
   
7. If needed, before playing the game, you can adjust the number of the Android guy that you can play by tapping or at the top of the screen. Tap to start the game.
   
   
8. Your phone will count down from 3 before the game begins.
9. If needed, tap the screen to flap the Android guy and try to pass the Marshmallow pipes. If you're managed to pass the pipe, the counter at the top of the screen will count your score. If you're not, the game will end.
   
   
10. Tap the screen to play the game again.
