Face tag is a Facebook-like feature that can be found in the stock Gallery app. This is a neat feature that will let your phone scans your photos using facial recognition to detect faces within the photos. When a face has been detected, a white frame will be appeared around the face to let you tag a contact or name to the face. But, as same as other features, this feature is loved by some but hated by other. Thus, if you're distracted with the white frames around the faces when viewing your photos then you can easily get rid those frames from your photos by disabling the face tag feature in the stock Gallery app.


How to turn off the face tag feature in the stock Gallery app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Gallery app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom.
  4. Clear the checkbox next to the Face tag to disable it.
  5. The face tag feature has been disabled and the white frames around the detected faces within pictures will be removed.

  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom.
  4. Check the box next to Face tag to enable it.
  5. The face tag feature has been enabled.


How to tag a contact to a face in a photo in the stock Gallery app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open Gallery app.
  2. Tap an album and then tap the required photo.
  3. Here you'll see a white frame appears around the recognized face. FYI, your phone may fail to recognize a face in a photo due to the face angle, face skin, skin colour, facial expression, light conditions or object's accessories(e,g: glasses, hat, etc)
  4. Tap the face and then select from the following options:
    • Me: select this option if the recognized face is you.
    • Add name: select this option to tag the required contact to the face.
  5. The selected face has been tagged. You can tap the face tag to use some additional options, e.g: call the contact, send a text or email message to the contact, etc.

As a note, once the face tag feature is enabled, your phone will automatically learn to recognize faces in the photo therefore if you have ever tagged a contact to a face in the past then your phone will suggest the contact name when you tag the same face in other pictures.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Add a Wait Into a Contact in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy S5 has two features that can help you to call number with extensions with more easily: pause and wait. If a pause will set your phone to wait for 2 seconds before dialing the extensions number once the call is answered, while a wait will set your phone to wait your action before dialing the extensions number. By adding a wait into a contact, once the call is answered, a pop up with the extensions will appear to ask you whether you want to dial the extensions number now. This pop up will remain on the screen until you decide to dial the extensions number or cancel it. Given the function, you can use a wait if you're going to call somewhere that requires you to listen to the entire automated message before you can select any menu or extension.


How to add a wait into a contact?
As the example, say that you're going to call your friend whose phone number has extensions. The regular phone number is 1234567899 and the extension is 231. You can add a wait and the extensions number after the regular phone number so that you can set your phone to dial the extensions number at the time you want. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap to edit the selected contact.
  5. Tap the phone number field to edit it and display the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Tap and then tap . It'll insert a semicolon (;) after the regular phone number.
  7. Tap and then enter the extensions number.
  8. Now, your friend's phone number will look like this: 1234567899;231
  9. Tap Save button to save the changes.
  10. Tap next to the phone number to call the selected contact.
  11. When the call is accepted, a pop up will appear to ask you whether you want to dial the extensions number now. Tap Yes button to let your phone dials the extensions number, or tap No button to cancel it or remove the pop-up from the screen.

If you often make a call to a contact whose phone number has extensions, instead of entering the extensions number manually each time you call him, you can make it simpler by setting your phone to automatically call the extensions. All you have to do is by adding a pause or a comma(,) after the regular phone number and then add the extensions number. By doing this, once the call is answered, your phone will wait for 2 seconds before dialing the next set of the extensions number after the pause or comma(,).


How to add a pause into a contact for auto dialing extensions?
As the example, say that you're going to call your friend at his company. Your friend's company phone number is 1234567899 and the extensions is 231. You can set your phone to automatically call the extensions by adding a pause and the extensions number after the regular phone number by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap to edit the selected contact.
  5. Tap the phone number field to edit it and display the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Tap and then tap to insert a pause or comma(,) after the regular phone number.
  7. Tap and then enter the extensions number.
  8. Now, your friend's phone number will look like this: 1234567899,231
  9. Tap Save button to save the changes.
  10. Tap next to the phone number to call the contact.
  11. When the call is accepted, your phone will automatically call the extensions number after waits for 2 seconds.

Samsung Galaxy S5 has been equipped with some connectivity features that can be used to transfer or share contacts to other devices, one of which is by using Bluetooth. By utilizing Bluetooth, you can send a single contact or multiple contacts at once to another Bluetooth-enabled device with ease.


How to send contacts via Bluetooth?
There are some methods that can be used to transfer or share contacts via Bluetooth, but this time I'm going to show you how to do so from the Contacts app by using two different methods.


Method #1
This method can be used if you want to send a single contact via Bluetooth. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Share name card.
  5. Tap Bluetooth.
  6. If Bluetooth is off, you'll be asked to turn it on. Tap the Turn on button to turn on Bluetooth.
  7. Tap the required device you want to share with. FYI, the device that receives the file may need to confirm to accept the file first before the file can be sent completely.
  8. The selected contact has been sent to the selected device.


Method #2
This method can be used if you want to send multiple contacts at once via Bluetooth. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then tap Select.
  4. Select the required contacts you want to share via Bluetooth.
  5. Tap and then select Bluetooth.
  6. If the Bluetooth is off, you'll be asked to turn it on. Tap the Turn on button to turn on Bluetooth.
  7. Tap the required device you want to share with. FYI, the device that receives the file may need to confirm to accept the file first before the file can be sent completely.
  8. The selected contacts have been sent to the selected device.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Add or Remove Contact From the Reject List in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Auto reject numbers is a call rejection feature in Samsung Galaxy S5 that will allow you to block unwanted calls from certain phone number. When this feature is enabled, incoming calls from all phone numbers that have been added to the reject list will be rejected automatically. Aside from managing contacts in the reject list from the call settings menu, you can also add or remove the required contact from the reject list with ease from the Contacts app.


How to add a contact to reject list?
You can easily add a contact to the reject list from the Contacts app by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Add to reject list.
  5. Tap OK button to confirm.
  6. You'll see this icon is displayed next to the phone number as a sign that the selected contact has been added to the reject list and incoming calls from this contact will be blocked. If the contact has multiple phone numbers, then all of them will be added to the reject list.


How to remove a contact from the reject list?
You can easily remove a contact from the reject list via the Contacts app by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Remove from reject list.
  5. This icon will be removed from the phone number as a sign that the selected contact has been removed from the reject list.

You may have some contacts that you communicate with frequently. To help you communicate with them, Samsung Galaxy S5 has provided you with some features that will allow you to access those contacts with ease, one of which is by letting you create a shortcut to the required contact in home screen. By creating a contact shortcut, you can easily reach the contact from home screen and then do the required action, e.g: call the contact, send a message, see the contact's detail, etc.


How to add a shortcut to a contact in home screen?
There are some methods that can be used to create a contact shortcut in home screen. But, this time I'm going to show you how to do so by using two different methods: from the Contacts app and from the home screen.


Method #1: From the Contacts app
When you're viewing a contact's detail page, you can create a shortcut to this contact to the home screen by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. If needed, tap the Contacts tab to view your contacts list.
  3. Tap the required contact.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Add shortcut to home screen.
  5. A shortcut to the selected contact has been created in home screen. If you have added a photo to the contact, then the shortcut will display the photo contact.


Method #2: From the home screen
You can create a contact shortcut in home screen with a widget by using the following steps:
  1. Long tap on the blank area of the home screen or long press the Recent apps key and then tap Widgets .
  2. To find the widget with ease, you can use the search function by tapping and then select Search widgets.
  3. Key in "contact" in the search field and all contact-related widgets will be displayed shortly.
  4. Tap and hold the Contact 1x1 widget and then drag it to the blank area of the home screen. Release to place the widget on home screen.
  5. Select the required contact you want to create its shortcut.
  6. A shortcut to the selected contact has been created in home screen. If you have added a photo to the contact, then the shortcut will display the photo contact.
