Panorama is still be one of the default shooting modes in the Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. But, it's now embedded with a neat feature called motion panorama which will let you not only take a series of photos in either a horizontal or vertical direction and then stitch the clearest frames together to create a still panoramic photo, but also shoot videos in panorama format at the same times so you can see a moving snapshot of all images you took. You can use this shooting mode when you need to take a photo of a wide scene or big/tall/high/long object without you have to change the distance between you and the object.


How to take a panorama photo?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera with the auto mode.
  2. Tap Mode to view all available shooting modes and then tap Panorama to enable this shooting mode.
  3. Tap and then select ON to enable the motion panorama feature so you can take videos alongside the panorama images.
  4. Point the camera to the object.
  5. Tap to start taking panorama photo and then move your phone slowly in one direction(left/right/top/down).
    To get the best result when taking a photo with this mode, make sure to keep the image within the provided frame as you move your phone because your phone needs to stitch a series of photos to create a panorama photo. If any, you can use additional tool, such as tripod to keep your phone's position as steady as possible.
  6. Keep moving your phone until the image reaches the end of the provided frame and the panorama photo will be saved automatically. Or, you can also manually stop the camera from taking the photo whenever you want by tapping .
  7. Tap the preview thumbnail to view the panorama photo in the Gallery app.
  8. Tap to see the full breadth of the images you took with panorama mode.
  9. While the video is being played, you can tap the screen to pause the playback. In this time, you can do the following actions:
    • Resume/pause the playback: tap to resume the playback or tap to pause the playback.
    • Pan the panorama photo: to pan a horizontal panorama photo, swipe the screen or tilt your phone to the left or right. To pan a vertical panorama photo, swipe the screen or tilt your phone upwards or downwards.
    • Save the panorama as video: tap Save video to save the video taken with panorama format as .mp4 file.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Take a Photo Using Selective Focus Mode in Camera App in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Selective focus is one of shooting modes available in the Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that can be used to make a specific object in a photo you take with the rear camera be the centre of attention by applying the out of focus effect in the photo, in other words, your phone will focus on the selected object and blur the rest to make the object becomes stand out.

To get the best result when taking a photo with the selective focus mode, make sure to fill the following conditions:
  • Place the object you want to focus on between 10-50 cm from the phone.
  • Make sure the distance between the object you want to focus on and the background at least 3 times the distance between the object and your phone. As the example, if you place the object 30 cm from your phone, then the distance between your phone and the background at least 90 cm.
  • Avoid taking a photo with the background that cannot be distinguished from the object, such as plain-coloured walls or background with no pattern.
  • Make sure to take a photo in a well lit environment and no strong light behind the object so that the camera can easily distinguish between the object and the background.


How to take a photo using the selective focus mode in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera with the auto mode.
  2. Tap Mode to view all available shooting modes and then tap Selective focus to enable this mode.
  3. Point the camera to the object.
  4. Tap the object near your phone to focus on it and then tap to take a photo.
    Make sure to hold your phone as steady as possible while taking the photo with this shooting mode because your phone needs to take multiple photos to create a final photo with the out of focus effect.
  5. When your phone has been finished taking the photo, tap the preview thumbnail to view the photo in the Gallery app.
  6. Tap  to change the focus settings of the photo.
  7. Here, you're provided with the following options that you can select according to your need:
    • Near focus : select this option to make the object near the camera becomes stand out by applying the out of focus effect on the rest.
    • Far focus : select this option to make the object far away from the camera becomes stand out by applying the out of focus effect on the rest.
    • Pan focus : select this option to have your phone focuses on both the object near the camera and the object far away from the camera, in other words, selecting this option will remove the out of focus effect from the photo.
  8. If you're satisfied with the result and want to be able to edit or change the focus of this photo later, tap Save button. Or, you can save the changes as a different image by tapping Save as new button.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Create an Animated Photo in Gallery App in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Gallery app in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a feature called animate which will let you put some photos together and then turn them into a gif animated photo, in other words, this feature lets you create a beautiful photo animation from some static photos .


How to create an animated photo in the Gallery app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Gallery app.
  2. Tap the album where photos you want to turn into an animated photo are saved in.
  3. Select the required photos you want to create as an animated photo. 
  4. Tap More at the top right and then select Animate.
  5. You'll be brought to the screen where you can edit your animated photo. Here, you can do the following actions:
    • Remove a photo from the animated photo: tap in the required photo you want to remove.
    • Add more photos to the animated photo: tap and then select the required photos you want to add.
    • Rearrange photos within the animated photo: drag and drop photos to rearrange their order.
  6. By default, your phone will use default ratio for your animated photo. But, you can change it when needed by tapping Ratio and then select the required ratio you want to use. There are 6 options available:  (it's the default ratio and selected by default), 1:1 ,4:33:4, 16:9, 9:16.
  7. If needed, you can adjust the speed of your animated photo by tapping Speed and then select the required speed you want to use.
  8. You can review your animated photo before saving it by tapping  . If you're satisfied with the result, tap Save button to save your animated photo as .gif file.
