How to add an email address or domain to the spam list in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using two different methods: from the email messages list and from the stock Email app settings menu.
Method #1: From the email messages list
You can easily register an email address or domain as spam from the email messages list by using the following steps:
- Open the stock Email app. FYI, if you have multiple email accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default.
- Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the Email app menus.
- Scroll down the menus to the required email account and then tap Inbox. All email messages sent to this account will be displayed here.
- Select the required email message you want to block.
- Tap at the bottom of the screen and then select from the following options:
- Block the sender: select this option to register the sender of the selected email message as spam. As the example, if the sender is myemail@example.com then all email messages from this email address will be blocked.
- Block the domain: select this option to register the domain of the selected email message as spam. As the example, if the domain is @example then all email messages come from all email address with this domain will be blocked.
- The email address or domain of the selected email message has been added to the spam list.
Method #2: From the stock Email app settings menu
You can register an email address or domain from the stock Email app settings menu by using the following steps:
- Open the stock Email app.
- Tap at the top right corner of the screen or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
- Tap Spam addresses.
- Tap to add an email address or domain to the spam list.
- Enter the required email address or domain you want to block. As the example, if you add an email address (e.g: myemail@example.com) then all email messages from this email address will be blocked, while if you add a domain (e.g: example.com) then all email messages come from all email address with this domain will be blocked.
- Tap OK button.
- The email address or domain has been added to the spam list.
I have the galaxy s5 which I recently updated with 4.4 upgrade. I had 200 spam addresses prior to updating and that is all it would allow. I deleted the list and have begun adding spam addresses again. Does the upgrade allow for more than 200 spam addreesses? I get up to 30 a day! If not is there a way to increase it passed the 200 allowed?

From what I know, Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with Android 4.4 Kitkat by default. So, if you have updated your phone then it'll be Android 5.0 Lollipop.
In Kitkat, the limit of spam addresses is 200. Unfortunately, I have not updated my S5 to Lollipop yet so that I can't confirm the limit of spam addresses in this version.
However, instead of adding an email address, you can add domain so that all email addresses with the same domain will be blocked. This will also let you to block more email messages.

ReplyDeleteI have the galaxy s5, and have been deluged with 100's of spam emails per day lately. Is there a way to block emails containing certain words in the subject line of the email, as opposed to blocking an entire domain?

Sadly to say that the Samsung Email app has no option to block emails contain with a specific phrase.
But, you can create filter for unwanted emails when you're signing to your email in the desktop version, e.g., via PC.
As the example, if your email is a Yahoo mail, do as follows:
1. Sign in to your Yahoo mail via PC.
2. Hover the cursor on the Gears icon at the top left and then click "Settings".
3. Click "Filters".
4. Click "Add" to create a new filter.
5. Enter the required filter name.
6. Select "Subject" and then enter the required phrase you want to block.
7. Select the required folder to place blocked emails.
8. Click "Save" to save the filter.
9. Click "Save" to save your settings.
10. From now, all email messages which the subject contains with blocked phrase(step #6) will automatically be moved to the selected folder(step #7).

DeleteBarbara I've found out how you do it,you go into phone settings then email settings and from there you delete all of your spam address's
DeleteI had to sign onto my email account on a regular desktop, which made deleting the spam/trash contents much easier. Maybe this will help?

I am going crazy with the amount of SPAM at the moment and the standard EMail App is useless for controlling them. The later versions do not seem to have to the button to take direct to SPAM rejection so a whole series of clicks are needed and you need to COPY the EMail address first which means you have to open it (which I try to avoid).
ReplyDeleteI am getting around 50 a day at the moment and they seem to have the same domain (changed periodically). At the moment they are all from xxxxxxx.top but the EMail App does not allow you to reject by the final part of the domain so cannot reject .top
I have been looking around for a better EMail App but no luck so far.
I might have to turn off EMail as too much time taken deleting all the SPAM>
Apart from the method of adding SPAM addresses to the block list being poor, it does not seem to be actually blocking SPAM.

The Device upon opening the "Stock Email" not Gmail.
Says it has Detected a Spam Delivery, and is Correct.
He's using a "look a like name" from a Gmail Account that is allmost copying my Email Name from my "Private Email Address" That would be my Wideband Account!
I Blocked him Off in the Spam Address Window
and is still getting through the Spam Address List,
even though his "Same" Spam Address is in there?
Have i been Hacked??
I have a Gmail account as my Secondary and is all most the same Address Name as my Wideband Account.
I hope someone could shed some light on this problem as im a bit weirded Out, First time this has happened to me & not sure what to do Next? Cheer's Peoples...
