By default, you have to swipe the on-screen icon if you want to answer/reject calls or dismiss alarm/timer/S Planner event. However, you can simplify the way you do those things by enabling the single tap mode so you just need to single tap the on-screen icon instead of swiping it.


How to enable single tap mode?
You can turn this feature on by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu(it can be used if you have enabled the direct access feature).


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. While the screen is unlocked, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and then tap Accessibility.
  3. If needed, scroll down the screen and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Single tap mode to the right to enable it. The switch turns green as a sign that the single tap mode is enabled.


Method #2: From the direct access menu
  1. While the screen is unlocked, press the Home key three times quickly to open up the direct access menu.
  2. Tap Accessibility.
  3. If needed, scroll down the screen and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Single tap mode to the right to enable it. The switch turns green as a sign that the single tap mode is enabled.


How to use single tap mode?
When this feature is enabled, you can use it to easily answer/reject calls or dismiss alarm/timer/S Planner event.

Answer or reject call
When an incoming call arrives, single tap to answer the call or single tap to reject the call.


Dismiss alarm, timer and S Planner event(when the screen is off or locked)
When an alarm goes off or the time of a timer is up or an S Planner event reminder sounds, single tap to dismiss it.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Answer or End Calls Using the Physical Button in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge offers you with several ways to answer or end calls, one of which is by using the physical button. You can use this way if you'd like to be able to answer or end call as you used to do with your old phone or if you need an alternative way to answer or end calls when you have trouble using the touch screen.


How to answer or end calls using the physical button?
You can set the Home key to answer calls and/or the Power key to end active calls by using the following steps:
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Answering and ending calls.
  4. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Pressing the Home key to the right to enable it. When this option is enabled, you can easily answer incoming calls by pressing the Home key.
  5. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Pressing the Power key to the right to enable it. When this option is enabled, you can easily end active calls by pressing the Power key.

Speed dial is a feature available in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which will let you assign a contact to a speed dial number so you can easily call the contact simply by long pressing the assigned speed dial number in the keypad.


How to assign a contact to a speed dial number?
You have to assign a contact to a speed dial number before you can call that contact using the speed dial feature. As the example, we'll assign a contact to a speed dial number by using the following steps:
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. If the keypad is hidden, tap at the bottom right corner of the screen to show the keypad.
  3. Tap More at the top right and then select Speed dial.
  4. Tap + Add contact in the required speed dial number. 
  5. Select the required contact you want to assign to the selected speed dial number.
  6. The selected contact has been assigned to the selected speed dial number.
  7. To assign more contacts to speed dial numbers, repeat from the step #4. FYI, you can assign up to 999 contacts to your speed dial numbers.

Tips: It'd better if you place your important or favorite contacts in the top 10 or in the special numbers(e,g: 123, 555, etc) so you can easily remember in which speed dial number the contact you want to call is assigned with and save yourself from calling a wrong contact problem.

How to call a contact using the speed dial feature?
If you have assigned a contact to a speed dial number, you can easily call the contact by using the speed dial feature. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. If the keypad is hidden, tap at the bottom right corner of the screen to show the keypad.
  3. Call a single speed dial number:
    To call a single speed dial number, you just need to tap and hold the number. As the example, if you'd like to call a contact that has been assigned in the speed dial number 5. Tap and hold 5 on the keypad and the phone will automatically call the contact you have assigned in the speed dial number 5.
  4. Call multiple speed dial numbers:
    To call multiple speed dial numbers, you have to enter the numbers and then tap and hold the last number. As the example, if you'd like to call a contact that has been assigned in the speed dial number 456. On the keypad, tap 4, tap 5, then tap and hold 6 and the phone will automatically call the contact you have assigned in the speed dial umber 456.

While viewing your contacts list in the Contacts app, in the call logs, in the frequently contacted list and in the conversation list in the Messaging app in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, you can use the easy call and easy message feature so you can easily send a message or make a call to a contact simply by swiping left or right across the contact.


How to enable the easy call and easy message feature?
You can turn this feature on by using the following steps:
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Settings.
  3. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Swipe to call or send messages to the right to enable it. The switch turns green as a sign that the easy call and easy message feature is enabled.

How to use the easy call and easy message feature?
As the example, we'll try this feature while viewing contacts list in the Contacts app by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Send a message to a contact:
    • Swipe across a contact from the right to the left.
    • Type your own message and then tap Send button to send the message to the selected contact.
  3. Make a call to a contact:
    • Swipe across a contact from the left to the right.
    • Your phone will automatically call the selected contact.

You'll have some advantages when you add your frequently contacted or important contacts to favorites in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, such as: you can easily call your favorite contacts simply by single tapping the contact icon in the favorites list, you can set calls/messages from your favorite contacts as exceptions when the do not disturb mode is on, your favorite contacts will be displayed at the top of the contacts list so you can easily find or manage them.


How to add a contact to favorites?
You can set a contact as favorite by using several methods. As the example, we'll do so by using three different methods: from the favorites, from the frequently contacted list and from a contact's detail page.

Method #1: From the favorites
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap Favorites tab.
  3. Tap Add at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Select the required contact you want to add to favorites.
  5. The selected contact has been added to the favorites.

Method #2: From the frequently contacted list
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap Favorites tab.
  3. If needed, scroll down the screen to the Frequently contacted section and then tap the required contact you want to add to favorites.
  4. Tap to add the selected contact to favorites. The icon turns yellow as a sign that the selected contact has been added to favorites.

Method #3: From a contact's detail page
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap the required contact you want to add to favorites.
  3. Tap to add the selected contact to favorites. The icon turns yellow as a sign that the selected contact has been added to favorites.

When needed, you can separate one or more entries within a merged contact so they will be displayed as a separated contact, e.g: when you have accidentally merged a wrong contact, when you want to have Contacts app keeps displaying each entry in a merged contact as a separated contact, etc.


How to separate a merged contact?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap the required contact you want to separate.
  3. Tap More at the top right and then tap Unlink contacts(this option is available when the selected contact is a merged contact).
  4. Tap next to the required entries you want to separate.
  5. The selected entries will be separated.

Since your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge lets you retrieve contacts from various sources, you might have the same contacts saved in the different storage location, e.g: a contact contains with phone number saved in the device storage and the same contact contains with email address saved in your Google account. In this case, you can set Contacts app to merge those contacts so they will be displayed as a single contact. It will help you to stop Contacts app from displaying duplicate contacts and manage your contacts with more easily.


How to merge contacts?
You can do so by using several methods. As the example, we'll merge contacts by using two different methods: from the contacts list and from a contact's detail screen.


Method #1: From the contacts list
This method lets you merge contacts for multiple contacts at once. But, it will only work to merge contacts who have the same name. You can use the following steps to merge contacts from the contacts list:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Merge contacts.
  3. Here, your phone will display all contacts that can be merged and group them by name.
  4. Tap the required contacts you want to merge, or tap All at the top left corner of the screen to select all contacts.
  5. Tap Merge at the top right.
  6. The selected contacts will be merged.


Method #2: From a contact's detail screen
This method lets you merge a contact with any other contacts you like, even if they don't have the same name. You can use the following steps to merge contacts from a contact's detail screen:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap the required contact you want to merge.
  3. Tap More at the top right and then select Link contacts.
  4. Here, your phone will give you some suggested contacts that can be merged. Tap one or some of suggested contacts, or you can select any other contacts you like to merge.
  5. Tap Link at the top right.
  6. The selected contacts will be merged.
