Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Set Notification Reminder in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy S5 has some features that have been designed to help you easily know that you have unread notifications so that you won't miss any of them, one of those features is the notification reminder feature. If you enable this feature, your phone will alert you with the default notification sound at the specified interval to remind you of any unread notifications, in other words, the phone will keep playing the sound at the specified interval until you read or open that unread notification.


How to set the notification reminder feature?
In this post, we'll try enabling and setting the notification reminder feature with two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu.


Method #1: From the settings menu
You can enable and set the notification reminder feature from the general settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Personalisation section and then tap Accessibility .
  3. Tap Vision.
  4. Tap Notification reminder.
  5. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable the notification reminder.
  6. If needed, you can adjust an interval between alerts by tapping Reminder interval and then select the required interval from the following options:
    • 3 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 1 hour
  7. Now, when you have an unread notification, the default notification sound will be played at the specified interval until the unread notification is opened.


Method #2: From the direct access option
This method can be used if you have enabled the accessibility menu within the direct access feature. See the following steps to enable and set the notification reminder feature from the direct access option:
  1. On any screen, press the Home key three times quickly to display the direct access option.
  2. Tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap Vision.
  4. Tap Notification reminder.
  5. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable the notification reminder.
  6. If needed, you can adjust an interval between alerts by tapping Reminder interval and then select the required interval from the following options:
    • 3 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 1 hour
  7. Now, when you have an unread notification, the default notification sound will be played at the specified interval until the unread notification is opened.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Adjust Sound Volume in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

In Samsung Galaxy S5, you're allowed to adjust the sound level for ringtone, media, notifications and system with ease in one place. You can either increase the sound volume for some options or decrease the sound volume for others according to your need.


How to adjust the sound volume?
Generally, there are two methods that can be used to access the menu to adjust the volume of all phone sounds: from the settings menu and by pressing the volume key.


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Volume.
  4. Tap and drag the volume adjustment bar to the left or to the right to adjust the sound volume for Ringtone, Media, Notifications and System. .
  5. Tap OK button to save the changes.


Method #2: By pressing the Volume key
  1. While the screen is unlocked, press the Volume Up or the Volume Down key and you'll see the volume adjustment bar is displayed on the screen.
  2. Tap in the right side of the volume adjustment bar to view more detailed settings.
  3. Tap and drag the volume adjustment bar to the left or to the right to adjust the sound volume for Ringtone, Media, Notifications and System.

As a note, specifically for media sound, when you're playing or opening a media file (e.g: music, video or game), you can not only adjust the media sound volume from the settings menu, but also directly from the app by utilizing the volume icon or by pressing the Volume Up or the Volume Down key.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Change Sound Profile in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

In certain condition, you may need to change the sound profile on your Samsung Galaxy S5. In a normal situation, you will probably place your phone on sound mode, but in some other situations you probably have to place your phone on silent or vibration mode in order to make your phone doesn't play any device sound or only vibrates so that it will not disturb others. Luckily, Samsung Galaxy S5 lets you to change the sound profile so that you can place your phone in the desired one with ease according to your need.


How to change sound profile?
Generally, there are three methods that can be used to change the sound profile: from the notification panel, from the settings menu and from the device options.


Method #1: From the notification panel
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. Tap the Sound/Vibrate/Mute button to change the sound profile. The button will change depending on the sound profile you're using:
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to Sound. In this mode, the phone will play sounds for incoming calls, notifications, media and system.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to Vibrate. In this mode, the phone will vibrate for incoming calls and will silence the notifications.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to Mute. In this mode, the phone will silence all sounds, except the media sound, without having to turn off the phone.


Method #2: From the settings menu
  1. Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Sound mode and then select from the following options:
    • Sound: select this option to enable sound mode. In this mode, the phone will play sounds for incoming calls, notifications, media and system.
    • Vibrate: select this option to enable vibration mode. In this mode, the phone will vibrate for incoming calls and will silence the notifications.
    • Mute: select this option to enable silent mode. In this mode, the phone will silence all sounds, except the media sound, without having to turn off the phone.


Method #3: From the device options
  1. Long press the Power key until you see the device options is displayed.
  2. Tap to enable silent mode. In this mode, the phone will silence all sounds, except the media sound, without having to turn off the phone. The button will turn green when it's enabled.
  3. Tap to enable vibration mode. In this mode, the phone will vibrate for incoming calls and will silence the notifications. The button will turn green when it's enabled.
  4. Tap to turn on sound mode. In this mode, the phone will play sounds for incoming calls, notifications, media and system. The button will turn green when it's enabled.

As a note, when your phone is on mute/silent mode, you can press the Volume up key once to enable the vibration mode or press it twice to enable the sound mode. When you're in the vibration mode, you can press the Volume up key once to enable the sound mode.
