Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Cancel a Scheduled Email Message Sending in the Stock Email App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

A couple weeks back, an insider sent me an email to ask the way to cancel the sending of a scheduled email message. FYI, a scheduled email message will be placed in the scheduled outbox folder before it'll be sent automatically at the scheduled time. So, depends on your reason, there are two actions that can be taken to cancel the sending of a scheduled email message. First, if it's because you're no longer want to send a scheduled email message then you can cancel its sending by deleting the email message. Second, if it's because you want to correct something wrong in a scheduled email message (e,g: you have accidentally set a wrong date) then you can cancel its sending by editing the email message to set a new date so that it'll be sent at the right time.


How to delete or edit a scheduled email message in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. If you have multiple email accounts, the Combined inbox folder will be opened by default.
  2. Tap at the top left to open up the menus.
  3. Tap Scheduled outbox folder to view all scheduled email messages. To delete a scheduled email message go to the step #4, while to edit a scheduled email message go to the step #5.
  4. Deleting a scheduled email message:
    • Check the box in the left side of a scheduled email message to select it.
    • Tap at the bottom of the screen to delete the selected email message.
    • The selected email message has been deleted.
  5. Editing a scheduled email message:
    • Tap a scheduled email message to open it.
    • Tap at the top right to open up the additional options and then tap Edit.
    • Now, you can edit your email message, for instance: you can set a new date if you have set a wrong date.
    • Once done, tap to save your changes and send the email message. The email message will be placed in the Scheduled outbox folder and will be sent automatically at the scheduled time.

If you wish to not receive any email message from an email address or domain, you can register the email address or domain as spam to block its email messages. But, if needed, you can also unblock a blocked email address or domain with ease, for instance: when you have blocked a wrong email address or domain so that you need to unblock it. Unblocking blocked email addresses or domains will set your device to notify you when their email messages arrive and place the messages in your inbox folder.


How to unblock a blocked email address or domain in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using two different methods: from the spam list and from the Junk folder of an email account.


Method #1: From the spam list
Since all blocked email addresses or domains will be listed in the spam list, you can easily unblock the required ones by removing them from the list by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the top right corner of the screen or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Spam addresses.
  4. Tap at the top of the screen.
  5. Select the required email address or domain you want to remove from the list.
  6. Tap Done button.
  7. The selected email address or domain has been removed from the spam list.


Method #2: From the Junk folder of an email account
Since all blocked email messages sent to an email account will be saved to its Junk folder, you can easily unblock the sender or domain of a blocked email message from this folder by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. If you have multiple email accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default.
  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the stock Email app menus.
  3. Scroll down the menus to the required account and then tap Show all folders.
  4. Tap Junk folder. All blocked email messages sent to this account will be displayed here.
  5. Select the required email message you want to unblock its sender or domain.
  6. Tap at the bottom of the screen.
  7. A window will appear to tell you that the sender or domain of the selected email message will be unblocked and the message will be moved back to your inbox folder.
  8. Tap OK button.
  9. The sender or domain of the selected email message has been removed from the spam list.

If you have added an email address or domain to the spam list in the stock Email app, all email messages come from that email address or domain will be blocked. Though you're not notified when an email message from blocked sender or domain arrives and the message is not listed in the inbox, but it will be saved in the Junk folder in each email account so that you can still view all blocked email messages in this folder if needed.


How to view blocked email messages in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. If you have multiple email accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default.
  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the stock Email app menus.
  3. Scroll down the menus to the required email account and then tap Show all folders.
  4. Tap Junk folder. All blocked email messages sent to this account will be displayed here.
  5. Tap the required email message to view and read it.

Have you ever wanted to stop certain email address or domain (it's the part of email address after the @) from sending you email messages? Luckily, the stock Email app lets you register the email address or domain as spam to add it to the spam list so that all email messages from them will be blocked. When an incoming email message from a blocked email address or domain arrives, you won't receive any notification and the email message will be redirected to the Junk folder automatically to keep your inbox clean from unwanted email messages.


How to add an email address or domain to the spam list in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using two different methods: from the email messages list and from the stock Email app settings menu.


Method #1: From the email messages list
You can easily register an email address or domain as spam from the email messages list by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. FYI, if you have multiple email accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default.
  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the Email app menus.
  3. Scroll down the menus to the required email account and then tap Inbox. All email messages sent to this account will be displayed here.
  4. Select the required email message you want to block.
  5. Tap at the bottom of the screen and then select from the following options:
    • Block the sender: select this option to register the sender of the selected email message as spam. As the example, if the sender is myemail@example.com then all email messages from this email address will be blocked.
    • Block the domain: select this option to register the domain of the selected email message as spam. As the example, if the domain is @example then all email messages come from all email address with this domain will be blocked.
  6. The email address or domain of the selected email message has been added to the spam list.


Method #2: From the stock Email app settings menu
You can register an email address or domain from the stock Email app settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the top right corner of the screen or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Spam addresses.
  4. Tap to add an email address or domain to the spam list.
  5. Enter the required email address or domain you want to block. As the example, if you add an email address (e.g: myemail@example.com) then all email messages from this email address will be blocked, while if you add a domain (e.g: example.com) then all email messages come from all email address with this domain will be blocked.
  6. Tap OK button.
  7. The email address or domain has been added to the spam list.

Schedule email is a feature available in the stock Email app that can be used to delay the delivery of your email messages by holding the messages in the Scheduled outbox folder for a specified time after you tap Send button, in other words, this feature will let you compose an email message now and send it at the scheduled time. Given the function, this feature will be useful if you use it to send an email message when it's hard for you to send it manually. But, you have to remember that when it comes to send a scheduled email message but your phone is turned off or the network is unstable/unavailable, then the email message won't be sent.


How to send a scheduled email message in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the bottom of the screen to compose a new email message. FYI, if you have multiple email accounts, the default account will be used as the sender automatically.
  3. Enter the recipient's email address in the To field or tap to pick up the required contact from your contacts list.
  4. Enter the email subject in the Subject field.
  5. Now, you can type your email message in the message field below the Subject field.
  6. If needed, you can attach some files (e,g: images, videos and others) into your email message by tapping at the top of the screen and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. To schedule the email message, do as follows:
    • Tap at the top right or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Schedule email.
    • Check the box next to Schedule email to let you schedule your email message.
    • Adjust the date and time when the email message should be sent.
    • Tap Done button.
  8. Tap at the top of the screen to send scheduled email message. Your email message will be placed in the Scheduled outbox folder and will be sent automatically at the scheduled time.

For some reason, you may want to delete some email messages in the stock Email app, for instance: when you want to clean up your email list or when you don't want some email messages are displayed in your email list. Fortunately, you can easily delete a single or multiple email messages in this app with ease.


How to delete email messages in the stock Email app?
You can delete email messages in inbox or other folders by using some methods. But, in this post, we'll try to delete some incoming email messages in the stock Email app by using two different methods: by using tickboxes in the email list and by using the delete menu


Method #1: By using tickboxes in the email list
By default, the the stock Email app provides tickboxes for all email messages in the email list to let you select them with more easily. If you don't have those tickboxes, you can enable the option to show those tickboxes in the stock Email app settings menu. Well, you can use the following steps to select some email messages using tickboxes and then delete them:
  1. Open the stock Email app. When you have multiple accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default. This inbox will display all email messages for all accounts.
  2. Tap the tickboxes next to the required email messages you want to delete to select them.
  3. Tap at the bottom of the screen.
  4. The selected email messages have been deleted.


Method #2: By using the delete menu
You can use the following steps to to select some email messages and then delete them by using the delete menu in the additional options:
  1. Open the stock Email app. When you have multiple accounts, the combined inbox will be opened by default. This inbox will display all email messages for all accounts.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Delete.
  3. Select the required email messages you want to delete.
  4. Tap at the bottom of the screen.
  5. The selected email messages have been deleted.

Since changing the device font size in the general settings menu will only change the font size for options in the stock Email app, if you hard for reading your email messages with the current font size and want to adjust it for better reading then you can easily fix it by changing the font size of the stock Email app so that the email list and the body of the email message will be displayed with the desired font size.


How to change font size in the stock Email app?
You can adjust the font size for the email list and the body of the email message in the stock Email app by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the top right corner of the screen or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Font size.
  3. Here you can select the required font size from the following options:
    • Use device font sizes: select this option to change the font size in the stock Email app based on the font size that is being used by your phone.
    • Tiny
    • Extra small
    • Small
    • Medium
    • Large
    • Extra large
    • Huge
  4. The font size in the stock Email app has been changed. 
  5. Now, the stock Email app will use the selected font size to display the email list and the body of the email message.

By default, the stock Email app provides a tickbox or checkbox for each email message in inbox or other folders so that you can easily select them and do the required action, e.g: delete the selected email messages, move the selected email messages to other folder, etc. However, if you don't have those tickboxes in your email list, the option to hide them may has been accidentally enabled, therefore disable this option should be able to show those tickboxes back in your email list.


How to show tickboxes in the email list in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Clear checkbox next to Hide tickboxes to disable this option and show tickboxes in the email list.
  5. Now, press the Back key twice to go back to the inbox and you should see the tickboxes are displayed in the email list to let you multi-select email messages simply by single tapping the required email messages.

Set the desired tone as the email messages tone is the best way to help you know that you have a new email message so that you won't miss any important email message and can do the required action immediately, for instance: read the message, reply the message to the original sender or forward the message to other contact.


How to read, reply and forward an email message in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. By default, the combined inbox will be displayed if you have multiple accounts. This inbox will display all incoming messages for all accounts and the new email messages will be displayed at the top of the email messages list.
  2. Tap the required email message you want to read.
  3. Now, you can read the email message.
  4. Once you have finished read the message, if needed, you can reply the message to the original sender (go to the step #5) or forward the message to the other contact (go to the step #6).
  5. Replying the email message:
    • Tap at the bottom of the screen.
    • Write your message in the message field below the Subject field.
    • If needed, you can quote the original message into your message by scrolling down the screen and then check the box next to Original message.
    • Tap to send the email message to its original sender.
  6. Forwarding the email message:
    • Tap at the bottom of the screen.
    • Enter the recipient's email address in the To field.
    • If needed, you can write your message in the message field below the Subject field.
    • Tap to send the message to the selected contact.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Change Signature in the Stock Email App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

By default, the stock Email app gives the same signature, "Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone", for all email accounts you have added to this app. The signature will be displayed at the bottom of your outgoing email messages. If needed, you can change that default signature with your own signature which contains your personal information or any other information you want to include in your signature.


How to change signature of an email account in the stock Email app?
FYI, if you have multiple accounts then you have to change the signature separately since each account has their own signature. Use the following steps to change the signature of an email account in the stock Email app:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Manage accounts. All of email accounts you have added to the stock Email app will be listed here.
  4. Tap the required account you want to change its signature.
  5. Tap Signature.
  6. If Signature is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  7. Tap Edit signature.
  8. Now, you can enter your own signature here. As the example, you can create your own signature by including your name, phone number, or other information you want to include in your signature.
  9. Tap Done button.
  10. The signature of the selected email account has been changed.

Sending email messages is one of the common ways to communicate with others. It may be the reason why Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with the stock Email app that you can use to send or receive email messages in condition that you have added an email account to this app. When you're going to send an email message, you can also attach some files into your email messages, e.g: image, audio, contact, etc.


How to send an email message using the stock Email app?
As the example, we'll try sending an email message contains with images by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app. The combined inbox will be opened by default if you have multiple accounts.
  2. Tap at the bottom of the screen to compose a new email message. By default, if you have multiple accounts, the default email account will be used as the sender automatically.
  3. Enter the recipient email address in the To field.
  4. Enter the email subject in the Subject field.
  5. Now, enter your message in the message field below the Subject field.
  6. To attach some images into your email message, kindly do as follows:
    • Tap at the top of the screen.
    • Tap Images. It'll bring you to the Gallery app.
    • Select the required images you want to attach into your email message.
    • Tap Done button.
    • Select the required option to resize the selected images: Original, Large(70%), Medium(30%) or Small(10%).
    • The selected images have been attached to the email message.
  7. Once done, tap to send the email message. FYI, if you have enabled the delay email sending feature, you can cancel the email message sending before the specified delay time is over otherwise the email message will be sent automatically.

Have you ever been in a situation when you wanted to cancel the email message sending, for instance when you have accidentally sent an email message to a wrong contact? If that so, you can make it possible by enabling the delay email sending feature in the stock Email app so that the device will wait for the specified delay time before sending email messages after you tap the Send button. Before the specified delay time is over, you'll be provided with the button that can be used to cancel the email message sending.


How to enable delay email sending feature in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Delay email sending.
  4. Check the box next to Delay email sending to enable this option.
  5. If needed, you can adjust the length of the delay time the device should wait before sending email messages after you tap the Send button by tapping Set length of delay and then select from the following options:
    • 3 seconds
    • 5 seconds
    • 10 seconds
    • 20 seconds
    • 30 seconds


How to use delay email sending feature in the stock Email app?
With the delay email sending feature is enabled, when you have finished composing an email message and then tap Send button, you'll see a notification message with a Cancel button at the bottom of the screen. If needed, you can cancel the email message sending by tapping the Cancel button. If you don't tap the Cancel button and the specified delay time is over, the email message will be sent automatically.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Remove or Rearrange Contacts in the Priority Senders List in the Stock Email App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

If you want to easily manage your favourite contacts in the stock Email app, you can add them to your priority senders list so that you can have a separate inbox for their email messages and a separate settings for them. However, if needed, you can edit the contacts you have added to the priority senders list, for instance: remove contacts from the list or rearrange their positions in the list.


How to remove or rearrange contacts in the priority senders list in the stock Email app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the Email app menus.
  3. Tap Priority senders. All email addresses or contacts with email addresses you have added to the priority senders list will be displayed here.
  4. Long tap on a contact within the priority senders list and then select Edit list of priority senders. To remove contact from the list go to the step #5, while to rearrange contacts in the list go to the step #6.
  5. Remove a contact from the priority senders list:
    • Tap at the required contact you want to remove from the list.
    • Tap Done button.
    • The selected contact has been removed from the list.
  6. Rearrange contacts in the priority senders list:
    • Tap and hold the the required contact and then drag it to the desired position.
    • Release to place the contact in the new position.
