Moreover, this app also has the default ability to allow you to attach picture and video files into your Gmail message.

However, in certain case, you might want to send another file types other than the picture or video files by attaching them into your email message. Indeed, by default Gmail app only allows you to attach picture and video files, but with the help of the third-party File Manager app, now you have the ability to attach any file types into your Gmail messages.



How to attach any file types into Gmail message?
There are several third-party File Manager app available in the Google Play Store, but as the example we'll use the popular one, ES File Explorer app. Well, here are the steps:
  1. Download install ES File Explorer app from the Play Store and then follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation.
  2. Now, open Gmail app.
  3. Tap Create new email button.
  4. Type the required contact and the subject of the email message in the provided field.
  5. Type your email message in the Compose email field.
  6. Tap the Menu key and then feel free to select either Attach picture or Attach video.
  7. Tap ES File Explorer.
  8. Navigate to the folder where the files you wish to send is saved.
  9. Choose the way you want to use to attach the file. There are two options available that you can choose the one that best suit your need. They are:
    • Normal Android Way (For MMS, Gmail,...)
    • File Way (Try this if above fails)
  10. The selected file will be attached and the email message is ready to be sent by tapping the Send button.

In Android 4.3, there are some options that changed its location in the Settings menu causing some users are having trouble to find them when they want to use them. How to find Wi-Fi Direct option in Android 4.3?
FYI, in Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and above, the Wi-Fi Direct has been moved to the Wi-Fi menu. Well, here are the steps to locate the Wi-Fi Direct option:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My Connections tab.
  3. If necessary, slide the switch next to Wi-Fi option to the right to enable this option and allows you accessing the menu.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi Direct button.
  5. Tap Scan button to search another Wi-Fi Direct enabled device within range.
  6. Now, you're ready to use Wi-Fi Direct to transfer files with another Wi-Fi direct enabled devices.

Indeed, the appearance of the Settings menu in the Android ICS and the Android Jelly Bean(especially the Android 4.3) has some differences.   1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. If this is the first time you use this app, then you'll be presented with the sync settings associated with your Gmail account. You can either to choose to tap Sync now button to start syncing your Gmail right now, or tap Change sync settings button to change your sync settings. Feel free to tap Sync now button.
  4. Wait until the sync process is completed.
  5. Now, tap Create new email button to compose new email message.
  6. Type the required contact you wish to send the email with in the To field. When you type the first letter and there are contacts which is match with it then all matching contacts will be displayed and you're able to tap one of them as your email recipient.
  7. Type the subject of your email in the Subject field.
  8. Write your own email message in the Compose email field.
  9. If you wants to attach picture or video into your email message, then tap the Menu key and select Attach picture to attach picture files into your email message or tap Attach video to attach video files into your email message. Choose the required picture or video files you wish to attach.
  10. Tap Send button to send your email message.

By default, you're only allowed to attach picture or video files into your email message while you use the Gmail app. But, you can improve your ability to attach any file types into your Gmail email message by utilizing third-party File manager app which we'll discuss in the next post. The first thing that I'll share with you about this phone is how to use this phone to capture what's displayed on the screen or we used to named it as screenshot. Best use this option when you want to share what's on your screen with others through the picture. I first use this option to screenshot my Home screen to share it with my friends through the social media.


How to take a screenshot?
Generally, you can take a screenshot in this phone by using one of the methods as described below:
Method #1: By using the physical button
You can take the screenshot by pressing the Power key and the Home key simultaneously until you hear the shutter sound as a sign that the screen has been captured. The screenshot will be saved in the Pictures/Screenshots/ in your internal storage or you can also see the result through the Gallery app in the screenshot album.

Method #2: Using Palm motion
To take a screenshot using this method, you need to activate the motion and gestures first as listed below:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My device tab.
  3. Scroll down to find Motions and gestures, then tap it.
  4. If necessary, enable Palm motion by sliding the switch next this option to the right.
  5. Tap Palm motion to access the menu.
  6. Slide the switch next to Capture screen option to the right to enable this option. When the switch shows green means this option is turned on.
  7. Now, you're ready to take screenshot by swiping the side of your hand across the screen, either from the right to the left or vice versa.
  8. The screenshot will be saved in the Pictures/Screenshots/ in your internal storage or you can also see the result through the Gallery app in the screenshot album.

These are two methods that you can do to take screenshot in the Samsung Galaxy SIV. Each of them has their own advantage and disadvantage. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Enable Lock Screen Light Effect on Android 4.3

Seems I've been missing some features in the previous Android version, Android 4.2 and just discovered them in the Android 4.3. Well, though some of them may be have no real function, but they do the thing that will beautify your precious Samsung Galaxy SIII and makes this device a little bit more fun to play with from time to time. I've already mentioned one of them in the previous post, the hidden BeanFlinger daydream which will act like the PC-screensaver on your phone. You're free to display it right now or while the phone is docked or charging.

Another similar feature that was overlooked by me is an alternative swipe effect, the light effect in the lock screen which already there since the Android 4.2. This feature of course will give you one more option if you have bored with no-effect or even with the standard ripple effect available in the previous version. But, you should note that this only works if you use the swipe methods for your lock screen.


How to turn on lock screen light effect on Android 4.3?
Here the steps you need to do:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My Device tab.
  3. Tap Lock screen.
  4. Tap Unlock effect.
  5. Select Light effect. When the radio button next the option shows green means the option is selected.

Once you've done the steps above, tap the Power key twice to go to your lock screen. Now, try to unlock the screen by swiping your finger, then you'll notice that the movement of your finger will be followed by the light effect in your lock screen.
