Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Enable and Use Call Waiting in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Call waiting is a feature that can be found in the Samsung Galaxy S5 which will let you remain be able to accept an incoming call whilst you're still in an active call. While using call waiting, both calls can't be placed at the same time, but you can swap the calls so that when you're talking with the person in the second call then the first call will be put on hold and vice versa.

How to enable or disable call waiting feature?
You can do so by using one of the following methods:
Method #1: From the Phone app settings
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Call.
  4. Tap More settings.
  5. Depending on your current settings, tap Call waiting to enable or disable it. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the call waiting feature is enabled.
Method #2: From the settings menu
  1. Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Applications section and then tap Call.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap Call waiting to enable or disable it. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the call waiting feature is enabled.

How to use call waiting feature?
Assuming that you have enabled call waiting feature, then you can use it to allow incoming call alert when a call is in progress. See the following steps as the example of using call waiting feature:
  1. When an incoming call comes whilst you're in an active call, you'll hear a tone to let you know that you have another call and the second incoming call will be displayed on the screen.
  2. If you want to ignore the second call, tap and hold and then drag it to the left to reject the call.
  3. If you want to accept the second call, tap and hold and then drag it to the right. Then, you have to select one of the following options:
    • Put the first call on hold: select this option if you want to answer the second call and put the first call on hold.
    • End call with the first call: select this option if you want to answer the second call and end the first call.
  4. If you put the first call on hold, you can swap the calls by tapping . It'll put the second call on hold and activate the first call.
  5. Tap to end the active call.

As a note, since in some models some options or features may be disabled or unavailable therefore if you don't have call waiting option in your phone then you can activate/deactivate this feature by dialing the call waiting code(you can get it from your service provider).

    1. Hi Harold Hudson,
      Thanks for coming,
From what I know, more settings menu in some model numbers of Samsung Galaxy S5 may be disabled or unavailable. If you don't have the more settings menu in your phone and want to enable the call waiting feature, then you can do so by dialing a specific code that you can get from your mobile service provider.
