How to set limit of SMS or MMS messages?
As written on forum xda-developer, to be able do to it, kindly following the step below:
- Go to Apps through Home screen.
- Scroll to Messaging, then tap on it.
- Tap on the menu button.
- On the pop-up menu that appear select Settings.
- Tap on Text message limit option.
- Determine your limit by scrolling to the required text message limit.
- Tap on the OK button.
- Tap on Multimedia message limit option.
- Determine your limit by scrolling to the required multimedia message limit.
- Tap on the OK button.
- Finish. Now your messages limit has been changed.
How to auto delete old SMS or MMS messages?
From the same source, to be able to auto delete old messages on your Galaxy S3, then following the easy steps below:
- Go to Apps through Home screen.
- Scroll to Messaging, then tap on it.
- Tap on the menu button.
- On the pop-up menu that appear select Settings.
- Tick the checkbox next to Delete old message option to auto delete old message when the maximum number of messages reached.
- Finish. Now the old messages will be deleted when the thread reaches the maximum limit.

The lowest amount of messages that can auto delete is 10 on my Galaxy 4... is there a way I can auto delete after I read an incoming message or after I send one?? If not does anyone know if there's an app for that??

hi...my s3 taxt limit i changed already.

The limit here uses to limit the maximum numbers of the message allowed in a single thread, not to limit the number of the characters you use in a single text message. By default, the Messaging app will automatically change long message to the MMS. So, if you often need to send long SMS and don't want converting it to MMS, you can try to use third-party Messaging app called BigSMS apps that you can get through Play Store. CMIIW, after did some investigations, I then figured out that the culprit of your problem was the prefix number.
You can send text because the phone number on that contact has no prefix. While the phone number in the incoming text message from that contact has prefix (which makes you can't reply the message). Unfortunately, I have not found any fix yet so that the Messaging app will display the sender's phone number as same as those listed on the contact detail. I don't know if it has any relation with your network provider, you may ask them to make sure about it.
