Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Use Quick Review Pictures Feature in Camera App in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

By default, if you'd like to view the photo you have taken, you have to tap the preview thumbnail in the Camera app so the photo will be viewed in the Gallery app. However, the Camera app has a feature called review pictures which will help you to easily review the photo you have taken. When this feature is enabled, your phone will display the photo in pop-up view immediately after you take it so you can review it with more easily and conveniently.


How to use the quick review pictures feature in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. In the Home screen, tap Apps at the bottom right corner of the screen to go to the Apps menu and then tap Camera app to open it. If the quick launch camera feature is enabled, you can quickly launch the Camera app from any screen simply by pressing the Home key twice in quick succession.
  2. Tap to view the detailed settings for the Camera app.
  3. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Review pictures to the right to enable this option. The switch turns green when it's enabled.
  4. Tap or tap the Back key to return to the camera's preview screen.
  5. Aim the camera to the object.
  6. Tap to take a photo.
  7. The photo you have just taken will be displayed in pop-up to let you review it. If you're not satisfied with the photo, you can easily delete it by tapping so it won't eat the space in your phone. If you'd like to take another action, e.g., share the photo, edit the photo, etc., you can tap the photo preview so it will be viewed in the Gallery app.

When you use the tracking AF feature, the camera in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be able to track and automatically focus on a selected object even when the object is moving or when you change the camera settings/features.


How to use the tracking AF feature in the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. In the Home screen, tap Apps at the bottom right corner of the screen to go to the Apps menu and then tap Camera app to open it. If the quick launch camera feature is enabled, you can quickly launch the Camera app from any screen simply by pressing the Home key twice in quick succession.
  2. Tap at the top left corner to view the detailed settings for the Camera app.
  3. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Tracking AF to the right to enable this option. The switch turns green when it's enabled.
  4. Tap at the top left corner or tap the Back key to return to the camera's preview screen.
  5. Aim the camera to the object.
  6. Tap the object you want to track so the camera in your phone will focus on and track it. Tap to take a photo.
  7. Tap the preview thumbnail to view the photo in the Gallery app.


As a note, the tracking AF feature may fail to track the selected object in the following conditions:
  • When the object is too big or too small.
  • The object moves or the camera shakes excessively.
  • The object is in the low-light environment.
  • The object and the background have the same colours or patterns.

Panorama mode is one of shooting modes available in the Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that can be used if you need a wider scene when taking a photo without changing the distance between you and the object, e.g., taking photo of a wide scenery photo for a web header, a large group photo, a big/tall/high/long object, etc. When this shooting mode is enabled, the camera will take a series of photos horizontally or vertically and then stitch them together to provide you a single wide scene photo.


How to take a panorama photo?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On the Home screen, tap Apps at the bottom right corner of the screen to go to the apps menu and then tap the Camera app to open it. If the quick launch camera feature is enabled, you can quickly launch the Camera app from any screen by pressing the Home key twice in quick succession.
  2. Tap Mode to view all available shooting modes.
  3. Tap Panorama to enable this shooting mode.
  4. Aim the camera to the object.
  5. Tap to start taking a panorama photo and then move your phone slowly in one direction(left/right/top/down). To get the best result, make sure to keep the image within the provided frame as you move your phone. If any, you can use additional tool, such as tripod.
  6. Keep moving the camera until the image reaches the end of the provided frame and the panorama photo will be saved automatically. Or, you can also manually stop the camera from taking the photo whenever you want by tapping
  7. Tap the preview thumbnail to preview the panorama photo in the Gallery app.
  8. Tap to view the panorama photo in full screen view in the Gallery app.

Burst shot is a feature or shooting mode in the Camera app in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that you can use to take a series of photos continuously in one go. This mode is best used to get a better result when taking photos of moving object.


How to take a burst shot photo?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. In the Home screen, tap Apps at the bottom right corner of the screen to go to the Apps menu and then tap Camera app to open it. If the quick launch camera feature is enabled, you can quickly launch the Camera app from any screen simply by pressing the Home key twice in quick succession.
  2. Aim the camera to the subject
  3. If needed, you can change the focus point by tapping the image on the preview screen where the camera should focus.
  4. To take a burst shot photo, tap and hold . You can keep holding the camera icon to let the camera takes photos continuously up to 30 photos, or you can stop taking burst shot photos whenever you want by releasing the camera icon.
  5. Tap the preview thumbnail at the bottom right corner of the screen to view the burst shot photo in the Gallery app.
  6. Tap to view all photos within the selected burst shot photo. You can swipe the screen to the left or to the right to view each photo in full screen view.
  7. To delete the currently viewed photo, tap Delete at the top of the screen and then tap Delete button in the pop-up window to confirm deleting the photo.
  8. To save the currently viewed photo as a new photo, tap Save as new at the top of the screen.

    • Take pictures: select this option to set the Volume keys as the camera key so you can take pictures by pressing the Volume up key or the Volume down key.
    • Record video: select this option to set the Volume keys as the record video key so you can start recording a video by pressing the Volume up key or the Volume down key.
    • Zoom: select this option to set the Volume keys as the zoom key so you can zoom in by pressing the Volume up key or zoom out by pressing the Volume down key.
  5. The Volume keys function has been changed.

  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to view the detailed settings for the Camera app.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Voice control to the right to enable it.
  4. A pop up window appears on the screen to inform you about all voice commands that can be used to take a picture or record a video. Tap OK button to continue enabling the voice control feature.
  5. The voice control feature has been enabled.


How to use the voice control feature?
If you have enabled the voice control feature in the Camera app, you can use the predefined voice commands to take a photo or record a video as described in the following steps:
1. Open the Camera app.
2. Aim the camera to the object.
3. To take a photo, say "smile", "cheese", "capture", or "shoot". While, to record a video, say "record video".

How to take a photo in auto mode with the Camera app?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. In the Home screen, tap Apps to go to the apps menu.
  2. Tap Camera app to open it. By default, this app uses auto as the shooting mode. As a note, there are some ways to easily and quickly access the Camera app that you can take to speed the way you access this app.
  3. Aim the camera to the object.
  4. If needed, before taking a photo, you can do the following actions:
    • Change focus: if you'd like to change the focus, tap the image on the preview screen where the camera should focus.
    • Lock the focus: long tap the image on the preview screen to lock the focus.
    • Adjust the brightness: tap the preview screen and then drag to the right for brighter image or to the left for darker image.
    • Change the flash settings: tap the flash icon to change its settings. The icon will change depending on the flash settings you're using. means the flash is set to on, means the flash is set to off, means the camera will automatically fire the flash when it thinks the flash is needed.
    • Change the HDR photo settings: tap to change the HDR photo settings to on, off, or auto.
    • Add effect to the photo: tap to view and then apply an effect to your photo.
  5. Tap to take a picture.
  6. Tap the preview thumbnail at the bottom right corner of the screen to preview the photo in the Gallery app.
