There are some features available in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that can be used to optimize your phone, one of which is the auto restart feature. When this feature is enabled, your phone will restart automatically at scheduled time. Restarting your phone can also be used to fix some issues, e.g., misbehaving apps, the touch screen responds slowly, etc.


How to use the auto restart feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Backup and reset and then tap it.
  3. Tap Auto restart.
  4. If the Auto restart feature is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on. The switch turns blue when it's enabled.
  5. Tap Time to set the required time to auto restart your phone and then tap Done button.
  6. Tap Days and then select the required day to auto restart your phone.
  7. Now, your phone will automatically restart at set times. As the example, if you have set the time to 05:00 and the day to Every Monday, your phone will automatically restart every Monday at 05:00 in condition that your phone's screen is turned off, your phone is not in use, the battery power is more than 30% and the SIM card lock feature is disabled. But, you have to remember that any unsaved data will be lost when your phone restarts.

If needed, you can change the default theme in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to another theme if you'd like to have a new look of the visual elements of the home screen, lock screen, apps screen, and icons. But, you have to remember that when you use other theme, some features will be unavailable or disabled, e.g., icon backgrounds feature, show button shapes feature, etc.


How to change Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge theme?
You can change your phone's theme by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Themes and then tap it.
    Alternatively, you can also access this menu while you're on a home screen by pinching the screen using two fingers or long tapping on an empty area and then tap the Themes icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. By default, there are only two pre-loaded themes available: Default(it's enabled by default) and Sevenabstrack. But, if you'd like to have more themes, you can download it from the Theme store by tapping the More themes button and then follow the on-screens instructions to complete the process.
  4. Tap the required theme you want to apply to your phone. As the example, we'll change the theme from the Default to the Sevenabstract theme.
  5. If needed, you can see the preview of the selected theme by swiping the screen to the left or right. If you like the theme, tap Apply button to apply the selected theme.
    As a note, the visual elements of interface, e.g., colors, icons, wallpapers, etc., will change depending on the selected theme.
  6. A pop up window appears to inform you that applying the selected theme will change some settings, may close some apps and unsaved data may be lost. Tap the Apply button to continue applying the selected theme.
  7. Wait until the applying selected theme process is completed.
  8. The selected theme has been applied to your phone and you can explore your phone to see the changes.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Setup and Use Screensaver Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Screensaver, or we used to call it as daydream, is a feature in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that you can use to control what happens while your phone is docked and/or charging. When this feature is enabled, your phone will launch a screensaver, e.g., photos in your phone and/or Google account, colour change effects, etc., when your phone is charging or docked without turning off your phone. You can use this feature when you want your phone displays something more attractive than the default black screen when your phone is charging or docked.


How to setup the screensaver feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Display and then tap it.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then tap Screensaver.
  4. If the screensaver is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on. The switch turns blue when it's enabled.
  5. Now select the desired screensaver you want to use from the following options:
    • Colors: select this option to have your phone displays the colors change effect as the screensaver.
    • Photo Table: select this option to have your phone displays photos in your phone with the scattered effect as the screensaver. If needed, you can manually select which photos you want to display as the screensaver by tapping and then select the required photo albums.
    • Photo Frame: select this option to have your phone displays a slideshow of the photos in your phone as the screensaver. If needed, you can manually select which photos you want to display as the screensaver by tapping and then select the required photo albums.
    • Photos: select this option to have your phone displays a slideshow of photos in your phone and/or Google account. If needed, you can manually select which photos you want to display as the screensaver by tapping and then select the required Google account and photo albums in your phone.
  6. If needed, you can preview the selected screensaver by tapping More at the top right and then select Preview.
  7. If needed, you can select the time when the selected screensaver should be activated by using these steps:
    • Tap More at the top right and then select Select when to use.
    • Now, select from the following options: While docked, While charging (either cable or wireless charging), or Both (while docked and charging).


How to use the screensaver feature?
As the example, we'll use this feature when charging Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a wireless charger by using the following steps:
  1. Without turning off your phone, charge it with a wireless charger.
  2. When the screen timeout period is over, the screen will be turned off and your phone will display the selected screensaver.
