Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Auto Capitalise Feature in Samsung Keyboard in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

The default Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has some features that will help you type better, one of which is the auto capitalise feature. When this feature is enabled, your phone will automatically capitalise the first letter of each sentence. Using this feature will also save you more time because you don't have to manually enable the caps lock key each time you want to begin writing a sentence.


How to enable or disable the auto capitalise feature in the Samsung keyboard?
You can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the screen to find Language and input and then tap it.
  3. Tap Samsung keyboard.
    Alternatively, when you're entering text, you can quickly go to the Samsung keyboard settings by long tapping the key in the left side of the space bar and then tap .
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Auto capitalise to enable or disable it. When the switch turns , means the auto capitalise feature is enabled.


How to use the auto capitalise feature in the Samsung keyboard?
See the following steps as the example of using this feature when entering text with the Samsung qwerty keyboard:
  1. Go to the screen or app where you can enter text, e.g., when composing a new text message in the Messages app.

Auto check spelling is one of smart typing features available in the Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that you can use to have your phone automatically checks spelling your words for better typing and help you avoid typing misspelled words while the predictive text feature is enabled. When there's a spelling error in your word, your phone will underline it in red and provide you some suggested words that you can use to easily correct your word.


How to enable the auto check spelling feature in the Samsung keyboard?
Assuming that the predictive text feature is enabled, you can turn on the auto check spelling feature by using the following steps:

As a note, this feature will work when the auto replace feature is off. See the following steps as the example of using this feature when entering text with the Samsung qwerty keyboard and English(UK) as the input language:
  1. Go to the screen or app where you can enter text, e.g., when composing a new text message in the Messages app.
  2. Write down your message.
  3. When your phone detects spelling errors in your words, those words will be underlined in red.
  4. Tap an underlined word to see all suggested words and then tap the required one to easily correct your word.

When the predictive text feature in the Samsung keyboard in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is enabled, you can use the auto replace feature to have your phone automatically replaces or corrects the word you're typing with the most probable word when you tap the space bar or a punctuation key. But, you have to remember that this feature is only available while using the qwerty, azerty, and qwertz keyboards, not the 3x4 keyboard.

  3. If the highlighted word in the predicted text bar is the word you want to type, tap the space bar or a punctuation key to automatically replace or correct the word you're typing with the highlighted word.
  4. If the highlighted word in the predicted text bar is not the word you want to type, tap to view all predicted text and then tap the required word to manually complete or correct the word you're typing with the selected word.

  2. As you're typing a word, your phone will provide you some predicted text for the word you're typing at the top of the keyboard. If needed, you can tap to see more predicted text for your word.
  3. Tap a predicted text to manually complete or correct your word.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Use Fixed Dialing Number(FDN) Feature to Restrict Outgoing Calls in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Aside from letting you block incoming calls from unwanted or unknown numbers with the call blocking feature, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge also lets you restrict outgoing calls by using the fixed dialing numbers or FDN feature so your phone can be used to make a call to those who have been added to the FDN list only.


How to use fixed dialing number feature to restrict outgoing calls?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Settings.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap Fixed dialing numbers.
  5. To turn on this feature, tap Turn on FDN and then enter your PIN2 followed by tapping the OK button.
    FYI, each phone number has different PIN2. If you don't know your PIN2, you can get it from your service provider.
  6. If you'd like to change your PIN2 for easier access to FDN feature, use these steps:
    • Tap Change PIN2.
    • Enter your old PIN2 and then tap OK button.
    • Enter your new PIN2 and then tap OK button.
    • Re-enter your new PIN2 to confirm it and then tap OK button.
    • Your PIN2 has been changed.
  7. To add more phone numbers to the FDN list so you can use your phone to call them while the FDN feature is enabled, use these steps:
    • Tap FDN list.
    • Tap Add at the top right.
    • Tap More and then select Import from contacts.
    • Select the required contact you want to add to the FDN list.
    • Enter your PIN2 in the PIN2 field and then tap Save button.
    • The selected contact has been added to the FDN list.
  8. To remove phone numbers from the FDN list so you cannot use your phone to call them while the FDN feature is enabled, use these steps:
    • Tap FDN list.
    • Tap the required phone number/contact you want to remove from the FDN list.
    • Tap More at the top right and then select Delete contact.
    • Enter your PIN2 and then tap OK button.
    • The selected contact has been removed from the FDN list.
  9. To turn off this feature, tap Turn off FDN and then enter your PIN2 followed by tapping the OK button.


Please note that in some models this feature may be disabled or unavailable. Thus, if you cannot find this feature in your phone, you can ask your service provider the alternative way to use this feature, such as by using the short code or message format for FDN.
